Well I just got off the phone with Kim "Wolfman" Howard who is officialling at the Hyden, and it looks like the Thumb Pump 300 has some catching up to do, with 105 quad entries this year for the Hyden. That would have to be a new record for quad off road racing in Australia. Only 4 of the promissed 11 SXS drivers turned up though, so their class was cancelled and they are chipping in with track officialling. Good on them for lending a hand. It looks like it is very dusty over there, which is hard to imagine with Adelaide in flood right now.
CRC and Moondyne (AOS) also stepped up to the plate and sent over a heap of products for prizes too.
Wolfman is trackside so he is not near a computer, but he said he would call me every so often and update me on how things are going. I will keep you all posted.
Man I wish I was there...

Great result for quad riding ....Non MA event is the key

The pig and pussy event at pine creek gets 200+ quads

Mick I think you got slaughtered with 28 riders 8 teams and 5 drags.. at TP300 ..

I would love to ride the Hyden 300 oneday....Add to the Bucket list

New update from Wolfman:
Perfect weather again today for day 2 of the Hyden Ironman.
Still almost 90 riders still racing going into the 3rd and final race session at 9am this morning (WA time).
The leader board at this stage looks like this:

1st Kirk Williams
2nd John Grupillo
3rd Chris Howard (last years winner)
4th Adam Davies
5th Dale Harris

Kirk Williams is on fire and not looking like slowing up any time soon. He has had massive success this year already too.
Lost of sore bodies, but what an atmosphere it must be with that many riders. Maybe next year.
Just 4 laps to go...

A black event generally means no insurance. I could be wrong about the Hyden, but I was told it was not MA and that it was a black event, so I would say it has no insurance. Does anyone know the facts here, my info is second hand.

It's all over and they are just confirming the results now.
Dale Harris had electrical problems and had to pull out, as did last years winner Chris Howard (sorry Smitty). Chris's bike was playing up a bit blowing fuses, then when he pulled over to help a crashed rider he couldn't get it started again. It looks unofficially like Kirk Williams took it out, with John Grupillo in 2nd, but that is all still to be confirmed.
Wolfman will call me once he has the final results.

Final outright results:

1st Kirk Williams
2nd John Grupillo
3rd Matt McKay
4th Adam Davies
5th Chris Brown

Chris Howard received the Hardship Award for pulling over to help a fallen rider while in 2nd place, costing him a podium. Great work Chris and well done to all those who contested this awsome event.
Thanks also to Wolfman for the regular updates.
