i got my gforce hubs before christmas and finally got around to fitting them ..was going riding then at last minute decided to quickly fit them for a great day out the dunes... wrong old hubs slipped off quiet easy with one needing friendly tap with mallet
new hubs slipped straight on
then it turned to "profanity removed" the studs on the hubs are different to the originals on 82' bigger and finer thread than what i had , tryed few hardwares and mechanic but they had nothing... anyone got any ideas?.. i think that they are the same as an 83-84' but i dont have any spare
i sat the tyres on anyway just to have a look
old
new(right wheel slipped off as i took pic)
right wheel slipped off
and i got some new bars for chrissy [/img]
then just as i was putting the bike away the front wheel was completely flat and came off the rim
hope its sorted for australia day _________________ If in Doubt.. Flat out

they flat tapered nuts? you don't want them to have the teeth around the tapered part. if you do you need a washer behind them other wise the teeth bite into the wheel and give you a false tightening... _________________ Yamaha '07 Raptor 700r SE

I think you'll need 4X110 pattern wheels. The early 250Rs were differant. _________________

Yeah the original rims don't fit so until I get a set I'm using timmy250r's spare rims nd tyres (ones in pics)
but the paddles are fairly worn down ...
So I'm on the look out for some rims and tyres second hand _________________ If in Doubt.. Flat out

Richie,
You don't often see series 1 250R's floating about anymore. tip of the hat in your direction.
Be careful with her. Judgine by the the flat tyres, at this point it sounds as if she needs some TLC of the reliability nature, as apposed to the TLC in the performance stakes. _________________ State governments give us REC rego + area to ride ATVs legaly! Dont put at tube in that front tyre!!!!!
steel wheels just rust away if you do because the water gets in and doesnt get out.
Buy a new O ring for the wheel and pull it apart, give it a good clean and sand the rust off the inside and give it a fresh coat of paint, even if its only the inside. You will thank me in 5 years lol.

Shes one of the most reliable bikes I've had starts with couple of kicks even when left alone for months and doesn't miss a beat
As soon as I find a nice 83-84 250r she will be retiring and I'm sourcing parts for full resto for its 30th bday
Stripping the bike and painting the frame after australia day ride too _________________ If in Doubt.. Flat out
The tubes are just a back up cause I'm pretty keen to ride australia day and if it doesn't stay up I'm throwing a tube in it
The rims are original and have bends and dents and going tubeless doesn't really last long the tubes don't even last long so il have plenty of opportunities to keep an eye on the rims _________________ If in Doubt.. Flat out

Yeah lot less tread on the backs but it will be handy .was thinking of fitting some newer forks to fit the thinner tyre but I think the bike would lose its character, the balloons are classic _________________ If in Doubt.. Flat out

its good to see someone is keeping one of the first real performance trikes alive.I love the early r's remind me of a 90 on steroids lol.Ive got heaps of photos of dads one when he bought it brand new back in 82.That and his odyssey are two things he kicks himself for ever selling.
Hope you make it to aus day mate, would love to see it in person. _________________ 1984 ATC 300R, 1986 TRX 500R,1984 ATC 200X, ATC 70 WITH CUSTOM LAYDOWN 250R ENGINE, 125CC CUSTOM THUMPSTER TRIKE

Well I'll give you one thing, It idles better than my 87 T3.
I think bars and spacers are both worthy additions. Easily removed and improves on the overall riding experience.
Not that its any of my business, but it was good to hear your not thinking of molesting it. Obviously you appreciated what you've got there.
The older these things get the more people appreciated them for what they are. Which is great. _________________ State governments give us REC rego + area to ride ATVs legaly! My front is full of them cuts like that both on the ground surface and the side wall... Still stays up tubeless...
I think I may have put some of that stuff in the tyre at one point, the puncture repairer from an aerosol can...

Just a tip with the axle spacers, DO NOT JUMP IT, I used to bend a rear axle every couple of rides back in the day with spacers on, the axles don't handle the extra load that well.
