got the new gaskets for my 84 250r the holes don't line up directly and the gasket cylinder hole isnt the right size because the bike has been bored out to 70.9mm
was just going to attack it with the dremel but realized that i have to be precise with this
any suggestion on how to do it ?

| try something like a large hole saw in a drill with a wrap of fine emery cloth around it, the larger the object the less care full you will have to be opening up the hole, I would clamp the old one to it and use it as a template . If there's no way the bolts will go through the gasket just a touch with a small round file in a vice with the hole close to the jaws as possible with do the trick. |

Did you try the gasket in every orientation like spin it round each hole.Ive had these tight on the studs before and tried just spinning the gasket round untill it went down. Also i have had to do as said above i clamped it lightly in vice, hole close as possible and with a fine stone in my dremel took some out of the holes wasnt to much of a prob.
Make sure that gasket isnt over hanging the bore (if im understanding your first post correctly it sounds like it doesnt)
Also over the years the studs can become slightly bent also making it hard to get the gaskets on making you think the gasket is wrong, so like me lol you take some out of the holes to get it on then when its actually down on the surface it seems like the holes are big.Not enough to cause a prob, but just something you might wanna check might save you having to die grind them at all.Just a thought _________________ 1984 ATC 300R, 1986 TRX 500R,1984 ATC 200X, ATC 70 WITH CUSTOM LAYDOWN 250R ENGINE, 125CC CUSTOM THUMPSTER TRIKE |
