A truck carrying just 12 quads from Brissie is already full.
Looks to be a good week for quads in Qld. _________________ Remember. We elect politicians, but we have to deal with bureaucracy.

Don't forget to give Motorcycle & ATV Warehouse a call if you need help transporting your ATV to this fantastic Quad Bike Muster, from Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane to Townsville and eveywhere in between. (07) 54 955 655. This is one event not to be missed. Keep up the good work Allan.

The first truck is full. They will put a bigger truck on if people need a hand.
( I reckon they might need another truck as well... ) _________________ Remember. We elect politicians, but we have to deal with bureaucracy.

Sounds like this could be a pretty big turn out with media from as far as the US showing interest. _________________ "Happiness is like peeing your pants, everyone can see it but only you can feel it"

I will most certainly be going. Will be getting my conditional rego after putting my mirrors back on. Have expressed interest on the facebook page and am awaiting the website to register. It is going to be a HUGE weekend for quads and SxS's and I have heard there may even be some members of parliament showing their sorry faces... _________________ CF MOTO CF500 stock as a rock... not for long |

"Event Line Up...will be :
A super fun Mud Pit, Gunbarrel Hill Climb, The lookout ride, 40klms of trails designed for quads and SXS's to slide their way to their happy place. There is an obstacle course for you to test ride vehicles from all the major manufacturers. It has a log trench a rock pile, stutters, jump , drop offs and corners to slide.....There are a few surprises with some barrel races just for fun. Rides will be going out in different directions at the same time all the time for the entire weekend. There will be the raid on the big drop ...this is a wilderness ride and not for the inexperienced. There will be heaps of food on sale for those who want to ride and not cook. The (as yet unnamed) bar will be fired up each night with entertainment and beverages to wash the dust out. Monday October 1st (Public Holiday) will see the ride to from Herveys Range to Mingela and return. (conditional registration is required for that.) This will be a non stop weekend of riding." _________________ Remember. We elect politicians, but we have to deal with bureaucracy.

from the Australian Quad Bike Muster:
"Great news as Queensland Transport Brisbane moves to assistance mode. They have offered a number of avenues for all participants to obtain Conditional Rego for their Quads and SxS vehicles. To obtain this however participants will have to first nominate for the event. When the final paperwork is through from QT the permit will be sent to the participants to go and get their rego. This will take a few days but then it will be smooth sailing to make the event happen. I would like to thank Mr. Geoffery Magoffin for your assistance in this matter. We will continue to keep all informed of the progress."

"Australian Quad Bike Muster
Well here is the latest. Event 050 from Department of Transport and Main Roads has been "Approved in Writing" This is some big news and a big move forward for the sport.
What to do now? you ask.
The process is as follows Nominate and pay online at http://www.oztix.com.au/ then email a copy of the receipt to sharpeshooters@bigpond.com we will then send the 2 documents required for you to gain conditional rego with no hassles from QT. Then it is just a case of ride the roads for the first time EVER with the blessings of the Queensland Government, Police and Charters Towers City Council." _________________ Remember. STATUS UPDATE from the organiser.....
"The Australian Quad Bike Muster has been listed as one of the two things, that are a must do for Townsville on the long weekend. As a spectator there will be a great view of the obstacle course from the Bar Tent, as a rider , the tracks are good and will be fast for some of the better riders. For the hackers (like Me) it will be sweet to ride and try to learn some new skills. Don't forget to bring your camera the views are spectacular. We will have a photographer on site. He will move around the track and get action pics of all riders. These then go onto his web site for us to purchase . It is always good to get one good shot for the pool room. A certified Quad Bike training course will be under way while the muster is going on. You can sign up for that on the day if you want to get some qualifications. I ran the tractor down Gunbarrel and smoothed it out, It will be a sweet ride for the first day then it will get gnarl y and start to sort the experts from us ...well....me. The track from the camp ground to the muster is about 1 klm this is a 2 way track and we ask that you keep it to 20kph. There are a couple of creek crossings and it is fine for you to venture up the creek to play if you like. Night Time dinner will be served at the shed on Friday Sat and Sunday Night. Alcohol and soft drinks on sale so we can all sit around a gloat about how lucky we are. For those who are travelling drive safe." _________________ Remember. It was one of the better weekends i have had in a while. Was good to finally put a face to the name dino. Am looking forward to the next one. Allan has told me that the weekend before footy finals might be a better idea for next year but don't put it in concrete just yet. I am hoping to get some good ideas for the next muster so i can put them forward to him and see what he reckons. As for naming rights he reckons can-am, polaris and tomcar are all interested so it could make for a very good weekend next year. _________________ CF MOTO CF500 stock as a rock... not for long |

Hi Mitch, and ditto about catching up. And thanks for the great job you did as sweep vehicle. ( I got onto a compressor the same as yours btw! )
OK. Things that really went down well at the muster was:
the exhibitors. They turned up with little idea of how it would pan out with close to 1/3 a million of stock on hand. Only Arctic Cat and Yamaha didn't show.
the demo track, with dealers putting there products under bums. Bikes and UTV's purchased as a result.
the road ride which was classic showcase of what sort of roads and countryside Australia has on offer. ( And if people were not aware of it, it only went ahead as a direct result of real and legitimate court action threat by the organisers and those refused rego for the event. )
the mud pit. Simply drew crowds and competitors alike.
FARMSAFE Qld putting up a stand and participating in the guided rides. (They put on a great and accredited course too!)
Overall, it was a great job first time around by Allan and Michelle Sharpe. They were very impressed with the quad community that showed and the grounds were left spotless. They gained a great insight into the industry and the community.
the on site camping was great.
the media portrayed the event in a very positive way.
The Saturday was a bit quiet as people found their feet but things kicked on a Saturday night with some organised rides. Sunday had a large number of curious locals who enjoyed what was fast becoming a festival atmosphere. This carried on on that night with many staying on to wish the road riders well.
Some of the suggestions heard for the next one are as follows:
two mud pits, with drags in same as well as the individual have a go events, and as many pressure washers as possible in a clean down area.
a dedicated XC track.
a dedicated kids riding area.
(all the above with spectator and pit areas.)
more trail rides with level 1 to 5 tracks.
demonstrations of various techniques for loading and securing goodies, riding, pre and post trip inspections, clothing, winching and recovery.
some fun competition events like swag making and go/whoa.
We travelled with a van in tow and covered over 3200km for this and it was worth every bit of it. Quads and UTV's are alive and well in FNQ, and they came out from under the radar for this. We made a lot of new aquaintences who, like us, are keen for next year and will be bringing more friends.
I'll post some helmet cam footing and other links as they come available. _________________ Remember. We elect politicians, but we have to deal with bureaucracy.

Oh yeah. As for the timing, QLD now has a long weekend in October and I vote to keep the muster on that weekend. 3 days is barely enough.
I love my footy too, but the TV reception is fine at Herveys Range and we could put up a big screen if they were that keen. _________________ Remember. We elect politicians, but we have to deal with bureaucracy.
