hi guys thought some of you may be interested in the making of my seat branding die for my 87 tecate 3....Im a real fussy bastard when im restoring something and no seat cover ive seen has this factory branding.i have a 4 axis cnc fadal machining centre that i made this tool die on.It took about 10 hours due to the detail needing a 1mm endmill. The material that i tested it on has thick sponge on it so the die bottomed out and branded a perimiter but its just a test so i dont mind....i will be using material with no sponge so it should come out ok.

im there!....Ive machined pockets out of the back of the die, inserted some high strength magnets, thrashed it with heat sink compound and made a plate that screw on the back.Next ive pasted the back of it with heat sink compound and stuck it on the branding press(thanks to the magnets!).Went in for a few press's at varying temps and press times.Burnt out some vinyl and glued up the die....after cleaning it i had a brain wave..... i used a bit of the old wankers lube(vaseline) and arrived at the magic numbers of 150 degrees C with a 50 second press.....perfecto!!!!!!Im at a stage where i can stamp as many as i like and it comes out perfect evrytime! All i need to do now is find the right colour and pattern material then im right to go Smile
