I think it would be easier to find a Honda one rather than make a lawn mower one fit... besides, lawn mowers have the starter on the other end of the crank and pull clockwise, Hondas pull anti-clockwise. Its just easier to get a genuine one.

Why are you looking on ebay for them? I've posted a link to a guy who sells them in the states, they're $200 and they're genuine, says that under the picture. $350 cheaper than old mate on eBay

there is a gazillion differnt things from stationary pump motors, motor mowers, crappy chinese bikes ,generator engines chainsaws ect around.....im sure internal componants can be taken each and used to make a unit....$200 is a great figure....but the availability of things are short lived then the prices go up or the unit is non existant.....I play with a lots of strange, old, rare cars/motorbikes and nine times out of ten we end up making things we cant get.....my way of thinking is someone made it once, why cant we make it again?.....In this day and age where moulding/computer operated machines are so easy to get ahold of....reproducing or making things is far easier than when they made the product in the first place! For instance a friend of mine bought one of these for $1000 http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/4-AXIS-CNC-ROUTER-ENGRAVER-MILLING-MACHINE-H80mm-/280758953475?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_15&hash=item415e89a603
The stuff he makes at home is amazing for the cost of the machine, also the good thing about this is if i need to draw a part up and dont have the time i just email the dimentions to a mate on the other side of the world who has the time,he emails it back i come into work feed the program into the machine then go about my work and before you know it you have a part,If its a complex part i leave it running when i go home come in the morning and its done,no coffee breaks,no holidays,no complaining,no phone calls from the missus,no "i need to go for a crap" no nothing and perfect repitition everytime.........i think its just some people have the drive and interest to pursue making things and some dont....which i totally understand....but hey,if you want something bad enough theres always a way out.....im sure mart would agree Very Happy

that's all good and well, but that's like going out and buying a cow when all you need is a steak.

i think your missing the point....a machine like that is obviously not used to produce only one object.for instance that cheap machine with a competent operator would make its cost back in no time....even not selling product if you had to pay a shop to make or buy simple brackets for something your messing with its all cost that go toward the initial purchase outlay for the machine....How much time do you spend sitting down scribing a piece of plate, cutting it out and dressing it up with files/grinders,drilling holes then to find out you need to slot the holes coz you ballsed it up or that radius took you an hour to file it ALMOST perfect Smile....Ive been there many times! We all have different views and this is just my view.My machine centre is far more complex and expensive that those machines but i know if i didnt have it id see those cheaper machines as such a small cost id buy one right away, its really not that had to use ....after using those things you never look back at doing things the hard way thats for sure....I do have an ATC70 with a functional starter, but just for sh1ts and giggles i may look into making one in time
