Well here she is fellas i got a little bit done to it tonight,I had a spare complete rolling 200x (pretty beat up)but shes a great candidate for this project.
What im doing is transplanting a 2001 cr125 engine into it.This is something ive always wanted to do so i bit the bullet, found a great deal on an engine from the states so i brought it in.
I was abit hesitant to start this thread as itll prob go dead for awhile as my little one is due anyday now so i cant see much shed time but whilst i had a spare hour or so i got this done.I didnt want to change countershaft height in any way so i made a little jig with the 200x engine mounted so i could pull that donk out and line the cr counter shaft straight in the same spot as the x.To many hybrid builds i see over the net where ppl mount the countershaft way to low and it just asks for the chain to saw straight through the swinger lol.In this case itll be exactly where the 200x one was.

Next prob will be the rear mount of the cr has the through engine swinger bolt setup and the 200x swinger slides back and fourth i havent exactly sorted what im going to do here but ill work it out.

Next prob will be the down tube,I may have to build a new section of down tube as the exhaust outlet is dead inline.Altough i have another thought of getting around this ill see how that goes first.

Prob after that is the rear kicker here's where im gunna go all hybrid on it lol Im going to mount a pullstart on it i know itll be weird pullstarting a cr125 but i think itll fit the project perfect.

Well heres the photos let us no what yas think, also ideas on some colours would be good as the guard is actually a orange as it was a maier stuffup back in the day.
Oh and i havent given up on the 250r pipe ive just ran outta gas for the tig and havent got around to gettin another bottle its abit of a scene to organise a bottle so its been pushed aside for awhile.cheers guys.

Great idea on the jig mate, i always wondered how to make one.
Everything looks good. What are you planning on doing for the radiators?
If the pullstart doesnt work maybe this will give you some ideas.

will be watching with interest With your down tube could you make a triangle arangement with the base being out near the edges of the bottom frame and your exhaust going through the middle this would also give you something substantial to hang your radiators from

Have a look at a TPC frame or even a water cooled 250 that might give you some ideas.
The only problems I found in the past with bike engines in trikes was the vibration from the different frame configuration, that is why the Hondas have balance shafts. I had a 250 frame with a CR480 engine in it many years ago and you could only ride it hard for a short period as it sent your hands numb.
The quad in the cage must be savage when you have to keep him in a cage. LOL

Pfft. He put a balancer on the 500... this should be a peice of cake... he's probably got 1 knocked up for it already. Laughing

I think the 125 shouldnt be too bad.

Yeh 125 wont vibrate much at all mate. The slug in this thing is only 55mm compared to the 89mm 500,Those bad boys are like a dinnerplate goin up and down lol.

I got alittle more done tonight i decided to make new front frame rails so i had some pipe in the stockpile and bent it up.I decided to try and get alittle fancy and squash the end just like the x frame where they meet the downtube but i ended up wrecking one so i now have to do another oh well thats what ya get.here they are anyway(before i stuffed one lol)

They are i tiny bit crimped but i was only using Jack style pipe bender also using my big dawn vice with just the mandrel in it im pretty happy with how they turned out considering that.

Was thinking of your project when I put the grizz away tonight and had a quick look at mine (250 honda clone 4 stroke into a yz250 2 stroke frame) to see the next step and discoved that when I cut the front frame and redesigned the bottom pan that I forgot about the header (currently off) I think you have just shown me the solution I will watch with interest although I won't be doing anything for a while coz we are in the middle of calving (12 hour days pretty normal at the mo)
