Problems on cdi's range from dry solder joints, dried out capacitors and other issues......mid to late eighties was a real bad time for Honda electrical systems....plus now the ageing components are playing up.Late model stuff is robust as,but issues such as lost keys(transponders in the key head) normally requiring replacement of the ecu/cdi key set at a cost of 2-3k from the stealership....fortunately I can remove the EPROM chip out of these ecu's and either read the data or some models such as Hondas feed them default data then teach them the new keys code ...of course I demand registration papers or proof of legit purchase from anyone requiring his service
