Awesome stuff guys and girls.

There will be a few questions I'm sure, from those of us who only dream they could accomplish such a thing, like…

Did you run tyre balls?
How many punctures did you have?
Any drama's with the OMF wheels
I'm sure you don't miss replacing belts like the canned ham
Did you blow any shocks?

AND… how many motors did you go through?

Hi guys only just getting time now to go through forums and Facebook properly. Thanks heaps for all your awesome support. It's been a massive adventure. Had the time of my life. Pete is knackered. I did 116hrs on the bike I think he did 200 getting it ready every night.
Ill post heaps of pic and vids on my FB page when I get back

Muzz yeah we ran balls we were the only ones. They were great in the hard pack rocky stuff but crap in sand. Got about 4 punctures had to use my spare wheel once. The wheels were fine and the fox shocks were flawless. We replaced the engine and driveline on the rest day but it wasn't nesscercery

Big thanks to the Dakar tragic Linc for keeping everyone up to date

I'm even slower than Smith at getting back on here, I needed an extra couple of weeks off from the world, not only the time zone changes that mess with your body clock, 2 weeks solid of almost no sleep every night (and completely no sleep on some nights), working on the ground, in pit tents and sleeping on camp strechers or in shitty race seats in the service car well, it can really f**k you up.

Dakar is an amazing event on the telly but to really appreciate the scale of it you need to get up close and personal, there is nothing quite like the sounds and smells of the portable pit tent city that makes up the Dakar bivouac. It took a few nights after race finished to get used to sleeping in a quiet, dark hotel room rather than surrounded by generators and work lights and I dont think that you could experience the like of the bivouac catering anywhere else in the world nor the waiting to use the porta-loos and one temperature only showers.

Oh yeah, then there are the race bikes, quad, cars and trucks to check out when you have time (which isn't very often) not to mention the service trucks, most of which put event the best set up races rigs here to shame. Having so many Aussies there this year, in quads, bikes and cars, meant that we had more than just the guys in our own team to talk to. A walk to the toilets or to the catering tent would often result in bumping into another Aussie and a chat about the days results.
