It's not that hard boys.
Tap and die is your friend, recut your threads and get the crud out of the thread. Don't over tighten, think about what your screwing into before you swing off the 1/2" rachet. Lubricate every thread, they need it.

It's easy to do with a 30yr old bolt that has been tighten and removed and tighten and removed ...........didn't take much to break I've cleaned all the the threads after being pc'd ..
Breaking the easy out well now that I look at it I'd could have used a bigger one Rolls eyes

You didn't grease the thread though right?

How did you clean the threads?

Stripping threads I can understand, that "profanity removed" happens on old threads that have been off and on but I seriously doubt age is going to make a bolt of that size to just break.

Nah no grease
Tapped the treads and used air compressor to blow out the crap out..
Because of the taper on the tap I don't think it got cleaned right to the end ..
Il work it out..

Another thing I found is in the manual it says that 21 balls go in the bearing race in the fork stem 21 in the top and 21 in the bottom. I fit 19 in each there's no way any more will fit and I don't have any extra anyway.. So I think these were replaced at some stage and balls with a bigger circumference have been used, it all still works so il leave like it .. Just thought it was strange

May as well, after all you did practically write it off.

What about cutting a slit into it with a dremel and using a screwdriver to get it out. Hrm

Stupid front rim won't seal.. Mad think il just cut up a bike tube and use that inbetween the rims, the stock seal just isn't doing it anymore.
Still trying to find a new set of swing arm pivot collars for a first gen ,the ones that go inbetween the swinger bolt and needle bearings..
Does anyone kno if all the 250r's have the same diameter swing bolt??

Nearly Finished new break setup ,just need to tap threads to mount reservoir and paint adaptor plate..
I know I said I was doing it all original but the rear setup I had wasn't original and was stuffed,it was a cr250 calliper
It's a pit bike rear setup

Haven't done to much lately .. working on lots of other things .. But will be focusing back on this once my PayPal account is unlocked(have a case open with a loser about a tent that doesn't exist and I will never receive Mad )

Still can't find that swinger bolt Crying or Very sad I've thrown a big gal bolt in there for now just to hold it all together so I can continue with the rebuild
