I have just had my quad to cape tour cancelled less than a week out from to start. It was cancelled due to first police of FNQ not issueing the required permits till less than 3 days out from the ride,making getting rego next to imposible from QLD Transport. The other problem was low attendance there were 12 signed up but 5 of them pulled out the week before the ride started,due to various reasons making the event not $ viable for the tour owner.
It is really disapointing as I have been trying to do this trip since 2008, not to mention some of the people of the FNQ who rely on the $ that people spend. I am not sure if it will get of the ground next year either due to police and QLD tranport department being dead set against quads on the roads even with permits so it could be the last of the Cape York runs.  |

Quad rego in Qld is becoming a real issue.
TMR have been bending over backwards to hinder it.
And QPS are not really qualified to determine if a rider is qualified!
(The beaurocratic decision by QPS' upper echelons to only provide permits to currently registered bikes smells of co-ordination.)
I hope RAY BUCHANAN SUES THEIR PATHETIC BUMS OFF!

I did the trip in 2010 in my RZR with Aussie Quad Adventures and it was a great trip (not rubbing it in). They gave up on going to the Cape after that as it was getting very hard to obtain permits. Rumor is that they will be doing a trip in 2013 but it won't be to Cape York.
