Hi all my names Andy and Im a newby to the site.

Wondering if any one can help with identifying the rear sprocket set up on my 82 250R.

It currently has 36t 5 bolt arrangement?? Impressive top speed on the dirt by struggles a little in top on the beach. I recently purchased a replacement stock 44T from the states and it arrived with a 4 bolt set up which I assume is the standard configuration for an 82 250R.

Could whats fitted (axle and sprocket) possibly be from a big red or later model trike?

Thanks for your help and will get some pics up ASAP.

Welcome to oz atv

The 4 bolt sproket is the original type..
your axle sounds to be different I don't think it would be from a big red they had a different setup
You might have a after market longer axle
Show us a pic of your trike mate

The stock ratio is good all round as long as you standard size tyres. If you have smaller wheels you will want to drop a few teeth on the back to compensate.

Thanks for the replys so far!

Having a bit of trouble uploading images...not as nimble as some of the younger gen. Any hints on a cloud server that works well with pic uploads on this site?

For anyone that might know my machine, it recently belonged to Luke in newcastle who carried out the resto as well as some well known atc fans i believe. Once I work out how to upload pics I have plenty to share.

If you take the pics with a smartphone you can get an app to make it easier to upload...

Hey that's my old trike. I sold it to the guy you bought it off. I may be up Stockton tomorrow. Unsure, still deciding.
If you wanted to get better acceleration you could go a few teeth smaller up front too.

Nah I don't sorry. It was like that when I bought it. I only rode it once or twice, It was just a part of my collection, not really a rider. I was given some spares with it, I'll see if there's a 5 hole sprocket amongst them. I'll be there at 10 in the morning. Hope to see you then Andy.

Cheers,
Ben.

Just replace it and put a four bolt back on.. it Looks like its welded on or is it a circlip n some built up dirt n grease
may have been change to run the smaller sproket .
I could be wrong but I thought most trikes and quads from the era ran 4bolt config
Here's a pic of mine just to show the original

The black stuff is sealastic stuff. I put it on there as the clip came off in the dunes.

Its not a 200x axle is it ??? They have the 5 stud sproket hubs. And someones just flipped it around and put it in the other way.looks very thick and wide though maybe some type of aftermarket axle which the 200x sproket hub spline fits just a thought.

.....mate, I have a 200x alloy front wheel, hub and disc sitting here doing nothing. The tyre is stuffed but the rest is A1. Dont know what its worth.....maybe a few of the other guys could chime in with a average price. I'm sure they are the same width, and will go straight on.
