 |
|
After going to watch the quads race at Kurri Speedway for the first time yesterday, me and Mart are going to try and get something similar happening for the trikes. The minimum we need is a grid of 4. We're half way there with me and Mart. Lol
We'd really like to see some dedication from at least 2 more people because if we are allowed to ride this will be a pretty big step forward for trikes. I'm not sure were trikes fit into the whole licensing thing with the racing governing body as this is all new to me.
If your keen bare in mind that you will be required to wear full race outfit and possibly fit your trike with Slicks, Nerfs, tether switch etc.
I just emailed Tamworth speedway this...
Hi my names Ben ****, I'm an enthusiastic member of a social motorcycle club called the Aussie Trike Crew that is based in Newcastle. We are a club with approximately 40 members Australia wide and have been riding together and sharing our interest for trikes via the online forum OZATV.com since 2005. We predominately ride at Stockton Beach under the recreational vehicle conditional registration scheme that National Parks and Wildlife has.
After seeing numerous pictures posted by quad riders of themselves racing at various speedway tracks in New South Wales, myself and another member of the Aussie Trike Crew took a trip to watch the quad riders race at Kurri Speedway for the first time yesterday.
Being a former junior short circuit and dirt track racer myself, speedway riding is something myself and the Aussie Trike Crew would like to be involved/included in.
After initial enquiries to friends of mine (Fred and Ben ****and Ben *****) that are heavily involved in Speedway, they suggested I contact your club and discuss the possibilities of getting a run in. We are open to any form of participation.
Thank you for your time and I hope your club is as excited about this as we are.
Cheers,
Ben.
So.... Who's Keen? We want dedication! _________________

Im so keen to put in what ever needs to be done for this as is ben I'm sure.
Guys we really need support for this, bugger stockton lets get some speedway action happening we need to show them we have the numbers/support.
Ben I could get the 4th im sure in dad, he would have a run on the 200x or 350x the brother said he'd be a deffinate, Even some of the older racers in greenhuman, lawro(haggles dad) I reckon they'd be all keen to reignite flames so to speak lol, I really think we need as many as we can to show we are serious an not just wishful thinking.
Depending on the response to bens email,Im sure at the least well need nerfs a tether kill switch an proper riding gear etc also proper maintained brakes etc just common sense stuff just have to wait an see.
As I told ben if the nerfs are a requirement ill be more than happy to fabricate them all for us to fit the various bikes maybe we just throw in for material just to help out, but i'll be more than happy to build them if need be.Thats jumping the gun abit but offer will be there depending on outcome of our enquiries.Ill leave all the emails etc up to ben as my grammar skills aren't the best as you can see lol.
Come on guys if ya's are keen on this lets see what ya's think or are we just wasting our time? I think we should atleast try. _________________ 1984 ATC 300R, 1986 TRX 500R,1984 ATC 200X, ATC 70 WITH CUSTOM LAYDOWN 250R ENGINE, 125CC CUSTOM THUMPSTER TRIKE |

Great post Mart. I'm considering hitting my cousin up, the one we were sitting with yesterday and seeing if he wants to ride my 84R. That way we have the numbers, then it's just up to the club. YeeHar!! _________________

Hey guys, I'd be keen to do some longtrack! Not sure how the 81 will stand up against your watercoolers but I'd be more than willing to give it a go! |

That's the spirit MUZZ! Good stuff. We're not all water cooled.... Marts not even a 250.
I still haven't heard back from Tamworth so I'll probably ring them through the week. _________________

Haha easy done guys, more than willing to make mods inorder to comply with any rules and yeah the one that wins is the one who can hold it 5/6th gear pinned in the corners! That's my plan anyway! |

Hey Guys.... Guess What????
We're allowed to have a run at Tamworth!!!!!!
I just got off the phone to Paul Slade who runs the motorcycle side of racing there.
He said they hold there practice day on the 1st Saturday of the month.
It is $25 for the license and $25 to use the track.
As it is only practice the scrutineering will be a little more relaxed so nerf bars etc are not essential at this point.
Brakes and common sense safety is.
I'll post another thread in the next day or 2 that will have a few more details etc as they come to light.
Ive also sent an email to the governing body being motorcycling NSW and Paul is also going to contact them on our behalf should we want to race.
There next practice is on the 4th May (my birthday). That's 3 weeks away.
Shall I organise it for then? _________________
