Points ignitions are simple.
Components are:
Coil
Condenser
Points
Stator

Optional:
Kill switch Smile

Each component has 1 wire, here's the complicated part... Join the all together!

The stator you have two wires, black and a yellow. Black is ignition, yellow is lights.

For the kill switch, 1 wire goes into the ignition wiring, the other to ground. Simple.

The points should be set to 0.5mm at maximum opening as a good start to get a spark, might come back to 0.4mm.

Now, what's with that coil? Is it definitely for a points ignition? A cdi coil or a electronic ignition coil will not work. I recommend getting a stock coil.

Don't dismiss a busted condenser though... Just buy a car one, cheaper and same.

I'm trying to restore this tank rather than spend $100+ and buy another one,
The top is fine just a medium sized shallow dent with should smooth out, inside is great for the age but underneath has some rust . After sanding back these sections the I've found the rust has gone through and the metal is quite soft , I've been able to push pin holes in them.
I'm thinking either metal putty them up with DEVCON or weld, then acid wash and seal the inside.
Metal putty would be easier but I'm not sure how it would hold up with the vibrations off road.
Any one have any ideas?

metal putty will be fine richie aslong as you prep it properly first. strip it back to bare metal where you want to add the putty then mould it in. Go a touch bigger than the area that is affected aswell.

As far as the pin holes in the tank goes, rough up the around the holes with 100 grit sandpaper then clean off with acetone and let dry. Drip some 5 minute araldite on the holes and repeat where needed. Just let itself spread out to a natural flowing edge.
