usually come in STD or Long travel,
the Standard travel will fit your +2 etc "standard" travel a-arms, these will also bolt straight up to your factory a-arms
long travel are to ones that wont fit your standard arms |

Thanks Rappy , now im really confused .....
Suspensions r us and Elka in the States say , standard sized elka shocks will fit standard a arms
If u have plus 1 or plus 2 A Arms then you need to get shocks specificially for this length a arm.
That is considered different again if u have long travel a arms then you get the long travel shocks.
Are u saying this is not the case any more . ??? _________________ It's time too ride !!!!!!! |

dont 07 raptors have good shocks on them ex factory???
i think you have bought an 06 that the guy bought new in 07 ---- if thats the case are 06 and 07 a-arms the same?
and should your signature say 06 raptor or are you into false advertising?
because we all know i ride a 2009 raptor 800r with factory fitted nos and ejector seat _________________ -------------------------------------------------------

Huge ,
Raptor 700 shocks are crap , unless u buy the Special edition ( Burnt Orange colour 2007 model, ) and then even those are only the YFZ type compression and rebound type. Still not a good shock. If u have tried aftermarket shocks on a bike , u would never go back to stock. HUGE difference.
That bike I bought is an "07 model and colour" manufactured in 2006 but
sold as an 2007.
If u look at the manufacturer date of most bikes u will find they are usualy built up too a year before they are actually sold to someone off the floor. The manufacturers start building 2007 models in June - August of 2006.
No misleading info in my sig !! LOL
Still means its an 2007 model . Quads are different than cars . _________________ It's time too ride !!!!!!! |

if your wider a arms are standard travel then any standard travel shock will work. It is only the springs and internal setup that is varying from standard width to wider A arms. _________________ www.quadsquad.com.au

| Its the eye to eye length of the shock that counts when ordering shocks. If you order shocks and you tell the builder you have standard length a-arms, they are built to suit. If you tell the builder you have +2" arms, the same length shock is supplied only its spring rate etc is changed for the different leverage ratio. The arms are extended from the bottom shock mount outwards, so the shock length does not change from standard arms to + 2". With the "long travel" arms, it is a longer shock that is supplied because of the different position, usually lower, bottom shock mount. With most of the aftermarket shocks, even on standard length arms, you will get more wheel travel because the bodies are shorter allowing for more compression. |

Thanks Green Human , that answers it exactly ....so shocks for +2 a arms will not work properly with shocks purchased for "standard a arms.
Thats all i was trying to find out from the seller above.... so his shocks will not work "properly" with + 2 a arms unless I get the springs changed.
Why was that so hard to get across to these guys ????? _________________ It's time too ride !!!!!!! |

THanks Rappy , that would have been my next question,
as u can see from my origional question , i was only trying to establish that the shocks were not for + 2 but for stock a arms , for some reason u guys didnt understand my question, or didnt give the answer I was seeking.
Either way , Green human confirmed my origional thoughts.
No harm intended. _________________ It's time too ride !!!!!!! |
