Hi all that might be interested, this is my current project, a 1985 200x that I bought on eBay. Hopefully, with a great amount of assistance from aussieduner, there will actually be pictures attached to this. Smile [img][img][/img]

Thanks for the complements, I try to do my best and dont worry, it WILL be used. I've done a few trikes but sold them when they were finished, this is a keeper. I'm building up a micro fleet of sand toys as we are moving back down to the central coast and I want to get back on stockton beach. Can anyone tell me, do they still race dune buggys there and what about sand buggy/ oddysey use in general, are they still allowed? I have some pictures of other projects if anyones interested, but being a computor novice it might be easier to put them on a disc and post them to someone who knows how to put them on properly.

Pete, the dune buggy racing is a no go after that guy died years ago but i still use my Honda Pilot buggy at Stockton and the RTA rego still allows that.Im keen as hell to see some more of your projects you can mail me the disc if you like or you can do the same as the 200x pics , that worked ok ?

Hi, if you can let me know an address I'll post you the pictures as some arnt on discs, discs didnt exist when they were taken! besides we dont have broad band and the wireless version doesn't work properly either due to poor signal. one of the drawbacks of living out of town. I had a couple of oddyssy 350r's, the first one I think might have been the first in oz, as I actually ordered it about 12 months prior to receiving it, I saw scoop photos in a dirt wheels magazine and rang the local bike shop who at that time knew nothing about them. Now thats going back a while! 1984? I'm not sure. I know oddyssys and pilots are rare as and those el-cheapo chinese buggys I think would be a dead loss, so i was going to biuld my own 2 seater one. Thats why I wanted to know if buggys were still allowed, I didn't want to go to the trouble if it couldn't be used. So am I correct in this or is there some size limit or the like, I looked on the web @ the RTA site but it doesn't appear to state what is or isn't acceptable. Dont take this the wrong way but Isn't it funny how 1 person gets killed in a buggy at stockton and they stop the racing but think of all the people killed in other, more high profile sports and they dont ban them.
VW's probably the easiest to way to biuld a buggy but who wants easy, I was thinking a front wheel drive corrola/ camry motor/trans in the back with original struts etc, and fabricated front suspension like a quad but enlarged. hmm something to think about.

Hi Peter, Wow what a improvement, I see you have got the new throttle cable.
Can't wait to see it when finished. How is the inside of the motor?
Cheers Mark

Hi Mark, how are you? What have you been up to, any more new toys? Yes I found a local bloke who makes cables, purely by accident, I took a car into the workshop right next door to him. You were right about the trike not having done much work, it's like new inside, it'll just get a set of rings, gaskets and seals, plus I might open up the ports a tizz just to let it breath a bit better

i think you will find that dune buggy racing is still allowed just the insurance costs increased and people moved away. The area where the buggies used to race is still a designated motor vehicle proving ground (race track).

Thanks for the info, I was going to build a small dune buggy/ large two seater go kart to use on the beach when we move down but didn't want to waste time doing it if it's no longer legal. It's hard to make sense of the RTA web site in regards to buggy rego. Anyway that should be solved as I'm coming down (from QLD) on monday. so I'll front up to an RTA Office and get some answers. Might even pinch the bro's landrover (Suzuki swifts dont make good dune runners)and check out the beach myself. I'll keep an eye out for any trikes
