Stephen,

I think Ive some 1 hour old Elkas that I will sell you for $400..but Elkas are not much better than the stock units. I know I have a pair stock units there also...They are at my workshop...Ill have a look in the morning and let you know.

Aftermarket shocks yes, just not Elkas.

I have a huge pile of Elka shocks that were sent to me by a major US parts distribution company to use (in conjuction with DMS in Victoria) to develop a range of ATV shock product.

The Elkas performed badly on both the bike/the shock dyno and the data logging. They really are not the ants pants like everybody thinks they are...but they are marketed well.

Below is a pic of my YFZ kitted out with $20k of Motec data logging equipment for a 4 day test session we recently did at a property at Dubbo and another 3 days at Albury.
I dont know a real lot about suspension but it was interesting to say the least studying the data obtained between different shocks/setups etc.

Hey Kevin, I'd be interested in your findings and also maybe interested in setting up a comparison between shocks as the basis for a tech article on suspension. Where did the Motec gear come from?

The Motec gear all belongs to DMS (Drummond Motor Sport) in Albury.
Maybe call and ask for Jamie about doing a shock tech article....he is a suspension engineer and really knows his stuff.

Link to the DMS site here.

Saw a DMS equipped YFZ450 on the weekend, was the shocks second time on a MX track, after first moto it was loaded on to the trailer with a shock bent like a bannana.
Have to wonder if any testing has been done with pro level MX riders, there is a potential for some serious injury.
I would suggest stick to the reputable brands.

such is life .... just replaced my damaged RHS lower A-arm and the yfz shock is kaput (bent)

Other than putting the original Raptor 700r ones back on, is there anyone that has a single (unbent of course) front YFZ shock ..

Has to ask ....

You wouldnt hear of it but I had 1 by its self that its partner had suffered a simlilar indicent to yours but I just sold it 2 weeks ago. You may need to look at getting hold of another set as most people wont separate a pair. You should look into getting a reputable suspension place to possibly put a new shaft in to bent one for you first though.
