Where is a good safe place to stay close to stockton Beach , I have Bikes on ute and in open trailer so need somewhere safe. Dont mind camping ground cabins /motel etc . Web address or motel names ??

Where is best place to park tow vehicle when riding ( not going onto beach with tow vehicle)

Also where do I go for permits , I have QLD rec rego so what else do I need and where do I get them from. Can these be organised ahead of arrival ???

Im heading down in a few weeks and have no idea of the layout or where anything is down there.

Appreciate some guidance. Cheers

Pro,

I stay at Anna Bay which is about 15-20min drive to Lavis Lane. The Birubi Beach Caravan park has realy nice family cabins which you can back your car down the side for security. The number is 02 4982 1263. Park your vehicle at Lavis Lane Carpark and ride in from there, its right on the edge of the dunes and perfect if you dont want to drive on the sand. Cant help you with the permits, I have never got one but I too have Qld rec rego.

we usually stay at "the retreat" near anna bay, ride straight out onto the dunes, its set back from the main road so security is good, they have cabins from 4 people up to 20 something.

in terms of rego, a UVP is the way to go for you guys which will cover you for the weekend or week you go instead of 6 months (its cheaper)

just go into the RTA in nsw or maybe they may be able to do it from up your way and ask for a UVP for a quad to ride on stockton, they will give you a form to fill out and they'll want a reciept of purchase to prove bikes are yours, pretty straight forward

www.rta.nsw.gov.au

i would strongly recommend getting a UVP or rego coz stockton has just changed hands and the national parks are now patrolling the dunes and are more strict about rego etc im told

hope this helps, ryan

This is the application form for a UVP. These for min 7days=$20-$25.??? http://www.rta.nsw.gov.au/publicationsstatisticsforms/downloads/45070190.pdf & this is the 'Customer Roadworthiness Declaration' form. http://www.rta.nsw.gov.au/publicationsstatisticsforms/downloads/45070938.pdf -Tick the boxes Wink on the customer declaration saying you have Wink -BRAKE LIGHTS -TURN LIGHTS -TAIL LIGHTS -2 RED REAR REFLECTORS -HORN & REAR VIS MIRROR. Phone the RTA(13-22-13 or 02-13-22-13??) as these are usually only available to nsw residents so you may need to use someones nsw address.??? The METRO FUEL/SERVICE STATION at the western end of Lavis Ln is one place to get the BEACH PERMIT/STICKER.=$30 per yr or $10 per w/end.

Is there any conditions on your rec. reg?
For NSW rec. reg. the condition is it's only for use on Stockton Beach. And your CTP is only valid there.
If your rego. and/or CTP have no conditions I can't see why you couldn't use it at Stockton. Don't bother calling the RTA, they have a hard time understanding NSW's rec./cond. rego.

just had a look on QLD transport website, seems rec/conditional rego is for crossing roads, short trips on road related areas (paddock to paddock) etc, no mention of stockton.

however, i would not expect the RTA to be able to issue you with a UVP unless you live in NSW, in saying that it seems there is realisticly no avenue for you to get a NSW UVP or Cond rego, and there is no 'location condition' available on you QLD rec rego to allow you to ride on stockton beach specifically.

I cant see how you can actually ride there as per the guidelines/requirements of National parks so i would say you would be right with your QLD rec rego and a beach permit (from the servo)

just make sure you take your rec rego PAPERS down aswell as the plate on the bike...

hope this doesnt read like jibberish Very Happy

Thanks Ozzy and Jon , I rang your beloved RTA and they were as u suggested , completely lost . They told me i had to find a friend who lived in NSW and use their address , I told the girl , im a kiwi and we dont have friends. She was stumped and said that i could not then ride in NSW. I asked her if that was the same for my car (regd in QLD) to which she stopped to think about it for a minute and then said " I think you would be okay driving your car in NSW but i can check for you if u like " UNQUOTE !!!!!!!!!!! .

I think i will just use my QLD rec rego and get the lavis lane beach permit when i get there.

Thanks heaps for the input ........

The rego's are a joke in both states it seems .
