Im told that a the frame needs a notch for the spark plug but the rest is pretty much bolt in, would love to do it, much less work than a 250R/CR500 conversion. _________________ 1989 TRX 250R |

I've got some green fork boots if you're interested. got blue too |
These Tecate's have extra thick forks, the 250r type boots ones dont fit there too tight, what size forks do the green ones fit Brett ?

What diameter are the forks, I spotted some Kawasaki green ones today that might fit.
$39.99 I think. |

Hey guys...I'm a brand new newbie to the site but an old schooler to the 3 wheeler. (Nice site by the way).
KX500 in an '86-'87 Tecate?? Yup. Fits like a glove. Here's a few pics of my '86 Tecate KXT500 project build.
The swingarm pivot alignes up perfect with the KX500 cases...no shimming needed. The lower motor mount aligns up perfect too. You will need to fabricate new front motor mounts and new top mounts. Other than that...it fits perfect. Tight..but perfect. Chain alignment is perfect too. All I have to do is mount a KX500 pipe. The 250 pipe will not work. _________________ "Now where'd I leave my beer" ?? |

Aussie...I noticed by your avatar that you're a KISS fan. I just got back from seeing Ace Frehley play here in Atlanta,GA. Ace can still jam as good as he ever did...and just as loud.!! _________________ "Now where'd I leave my beer" ?? |

Well im almost there,
I decided, after calling Hamilton chrome to blast and repaint the pipe for this rebuild so that's done and on,new blue grips and the rear seat/fender bracket done (thanks to the well appointed workshop of Oldrodder),this now needs some grinding, bead blast and paint.
Still to do,find the elusive rear sprocket (also got a green chain coming),get the silencer organised, get a new airfilter (my NOS item from the US fell apart when i opened it ! ).
Fresh painted pipe and new springs
Rear fender mounting bar.
Almost a goer !

Its alive !
New filter came today, put some fuel in the tank and a few kicks and she's a runner hope JMC has that new rear sprocket or its first trip will be cancelled. _________________ 1989 TRX 250R |
