Dean Update - 02.04.2008
Hi Guys - well the family and I travelled up to Canberra and took a few pressies with us from various people.
Dean has had his knee operated on and the place where they took his skin graft is healing well.
His back is still giving him alot of pain so the morphine button for the drip is working overtime.
Dean was in good spirits and is absolutly overwhelmed and thrilled at all the support he is getting.
At the time I write this they still dont know when Dean will be transported home. Seems the doctors all give them different stories as to when he can leave.
We took Di out for Dinner and she had a great time - Will download a photo for you all to see Dean once Mitch shows me how.
cheers

update 07.04.08
Hi guys
Just heard from Di and they have re-operated on Deans ankle and now he has a pile of scaffolding sticking out of his ankle. he is in alot of pain and they think the compartment syndrome is now in his ankle . Checking with doctors today.
Di has just got Dean a laptop so hopefully he will be up and on air in the next couple of days and everyone can have a chat with him.

Update 10.4.08
Spoke to Dean last night and he is slowly improving and hopes to be back in Victoria in the next few days. It remains to be seen whether he will have to be hospitalised or able to go home to recoup. Good news either way. _________________ If everything seems to be going well, you have obviously overlooked something. |

Gidday guys i'm finally on air, i don't know where to start except to say that i am very privileged to be a part of this magnificant Quad family. The support that has been shown from people far & near, the messages, phonecalls, cards & presents have all made dealing with this whole ordeal a lot easier. A special thanks must be also be sent to both the Van Vliet & Simensma families for their much appreciated support for Dianne since the accident.
The current situation with me is i'm awaiting the measuring up for a back brace tomorrow (Monday) and once that is supplied and fitted my physio/rehab can begin. At present we are hopeful of me being able to travel HOME (Traralgon) possibly in 7-10 days.
Anyhow, that's enough about me, hope everyone has had a good weekend @ Colac, good, fast, fun racing for all.
Once again thanks to everyone, talk soon.
Cheers Deano. |

Gidday guy's, nice to hear Colac was a good W/E for all.
Hey Bullet, don't feel too sorry for me, it;s you poor S.A. bugga's that are the Mexicans. Vic. short for paradise!!
Yeah Smitty, there's a bit of work to be done regarding me,banshee, riding & Di !! I will just have to work away slowly on that one.
Hi Trud, how did Mitch go. Back brace fitted mid morning, sat up in bed for first time in five weeks, few head spins. Did manage to stand on good leg with walking frame for about 30sec,pain in R leg unbelievable but we'll just keep chipping away at it each day, try again tomorrow.
Cheers DEAN |

Yeah I spose it's not all bad over there...
We dragged our sorry buts over to Colac for a play in the sand pit last weekend and had a ball.
The QRCV are certainly lucky to have the great members that they do.
So much work goes in to making a perfect track and a perfect event, and you guys excell.
They even turned the weather up to something reasonable for us.
Good to hear you're up Deano.
We'll see you at the next one. _________________ Can-Am X Team

Hi Dean,
Glad to hear you might be home this week. Maybe some Wild Turkey might help with the pain. What have you missed? Let me think Nick ate most of the fruitcake with a little bit of help from me at the last qrcv meeting. Hugh ran over his foot (I think with his quad ) at Colac. Have you ever seen 2 yo yos in a lap scoring box before that's what Sandra and I were at Colac. Between Sandra squashing the wasps with a flag she had found and the both of us running from one end to the other watching some great racing in all the classes I went home exhausted. You missed out on Trudys' yummy dessert and Robs' quiet escape to bed. Lyn Ovens made the best hamburgers in the canteen for lunch and my bacon sandwich for breaky was delivered to me straight from the pan. Say Hi to Di for me and I hope to hear from you soon.

Hi Dean, glad you are on the mend and up and about, albiet a bit shaky yet.
We had a great weekend and missed the Poke family, we did however save some jelly shots for Di, I think Lynda ate them though Our non drinking Race Secretary has also taken a fancy to them And wait tillyou see Mr & Mrs 'Snores' new rig.
Hope to see you all very soon if only as spectators.
Take care. Nick Sandra Adam and Amanda _________________ If everything seems to be going well, you have obviously overlooked something. |

Hey Dean
Glad all is going ok with the back brace. Geez fancy having the head spins without having a drink - thats not fair.
Goodluck with the walking I bet it must feel fantastic to be out of that bed even though you are in a lot of pain.
Thanks for asking about Mitch - He scared the "perjeebers" out of me. Never been so nervous out at the track like this. I thought he rode very well and kept up the pace with the other Pro riders so Rob and I were very proud. In fact I was proud of all the boys, even the big one. Only problem is Rob is now on the jelly shots so now we have to make more !!!!! or hide them from him
Take it easy
Cheers

good to see you can at least get some entertainment from the forum while your stuck up there in hell (oops i mean Canberra) just wait till you gt home and you can log some serious playstation time (proper therapy for MX racers is ATV vs MX unleashed or the new version, ATV vs MX untamed) and I'm sure you'll get plenty of visitors once your back in the valley and within less than a days driving distance...... _________________
