Nice try, but ....................It is going to be a true Ironman series spread over five disciplines. There will be two rounds of MX, Supermoto, Dirttrack, Speedway and Natural Terrain MX during the cooler Qld Winter months. The winner will walk away with the title of the the best 'all round 'quad rider in Australia. Oh ! I forgot to mention that those very nice people at NRMA have donated Eight thousand ($8,000) "WINNER TAKES ALL" dollars to ensure that we attract Australias elite. Channel 9 have also expressed a keen interest in having the sole rights to possible television broadcast.

The series as described sound good but would it work and be benificial?
An ironman series has been tried in the past and doesn't seem to have done to much to grow the sport.
Quad supermoto is very cost prohibative - $700 in leathers and a set of tryes at every race meet
Dirt track and speedway guys do not do MX - that just seems to be the way it is.
Look at what works VIC and WA promoting MX in several grades and most importantly juniors - would juniors be catered for? , what about all grades of riders? - a lot of new riders do not want to ride with seasoned riders, they feel intimidated.
Juniors and B and C grade riders grow the sport - not only who is the best all round rider.
Who would really do the series - If VIC has a super eight and the tri state that riders are committed to, WA and NT now have state rounds, NSW has the Hardiman Cup - add to that State and National titles seems riders may be over committed.
Talk around the pits is that a state wide series is needed but one that caters for all the riders and families. One that includes 4 - 6 rounds that can be planned and budgeted for.
Food for thought |

Tip budget your race series on club men and juniors in your own state and it will be a success as we do in NT. Sure its fantistic to get some big names which is a bonus . Travel this great country of ours takes a lot of commitment . Everytime We drive out the front gate to go racing interstate its costs $5000 + . Yes junior coaching is damaging our sport . Did you hear that MA Australia. How many times have I got new kids that want to have a go. Sorry no coaching no licence, they went and played footy instead. Never see them again. How do we grow our sport?
In NT we coach for free thanks to Marty Stone.

Hi vjcrose
Hmmm...... yes I can see how you would be confused, so let me help you , if I'd have meant an Australian Championship I would have used the correct recognised terminology of AUSTRALIAN NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP hope this clears things up for you. |

$8000 is a lot of money, just wondering what the general thought is amongst the 'PRO RIDER' group as to whether you would get the needed
comittment over five rounds to make this a success. What about the
possibilities of that sort of money being used to grow our sport. The grass
roots riders, juniors, getting consistant good numbers to club, regional and
then state level events I believe is the best way of developing our sport on a good solid foundation. Just my thoughts, what do others think?
Cheers Dean. |

it depends on Dates and how they clash.
next year is going to even bigger than this year, and i wouldn't be able to commit to anything until all dates are released.
i love racing in QLD as it is more laid back and casual but just as competitive than racing in other states.
i personally would like to see the Tri state series extended to the Quad state series by adding a race in QLD for MX and you would have a great numbers and competition.
$8000 prize money wouldn't make me come and do all the races as i would spend over that just getting to them and thats from NSW so i would come out even and thats if i won. _________________ 2012 sponsors, Working on it. |

Prize money sounds great, but the travel for Riders outside of that designated State would add up emensley. It would be good if each State looked at a similar event and have as mentioned above a main overall event with the support of what Derek has gained as the outcome and to progress to a possible Title. (not sure of the "Title All Round Quad" that may need a little work). I dont think there would be a lot of Pro MX riders that would be able to afford different bikes or changes or Protective gear to comply with each discipline SuperMotorard full leathers etc, this type of event would suit a small percentage of riders - this is only my opinion from the otherside of country, but never the less, its another stepping stone in advancing the sport of quad racing which ever way you look at it.
We need to look outside of the small world we revolve around in, be open minded and look at what this type of event may bring whether its this year or in years to come. Many of us bash our heads to get a foot in the door with quads, we dont need the door slammed before its even opened.
I sometimes read a lot of these posts and think why should I even bother to try and push for the quads and then I read a single post that thanks some-one for organising something and that one post is the reason why I guess I'm still here doing it for WA.
This is only my opinion and should be taken in that context. I dont mean to offend anyone so please dont read that into it.
