just done one on my brother inlaws 93 sr5 2.8 hilux dual cab. the only things to watch are the gear stick boots need a bit of cutting or bend the gear sticks and the fuel tank filler hose. the hand brake cable had to be unclipped were its fastened to the floor. the fan and the steering all seem to have enuf play for a 2 inch lift
Cheers

same as above, if u get under the dash were the steering column comes thru u can loosen of the uni in there 12mm headed bolt and slid it dwn a bees (sausage) to relieve a bit of stress on the uni at the box, then go round and check that metal part of the brake lines is still good and not kinked
cheers

the conversion has cost me about 10 g, thats engine a new prado 5 speed, new full 3 '' exhaust system, bell housing adaptor etc, new clutch, moded front and rear driveshafts, new custom gearbox crossmember, engine mounts, plus i put new timing belts, rebuilt starter and alternator, moded sump to clear diff on full compression, new water pump, $1600 worth of ally radiator and heaps of other little things to do the whole job properly, the ecu is about $2000 i used and aftermarket one instead of standard cause may want to supercharge it later
all the wiring has waterproof duetz connectors and is mostly hidden for a clean looking engine bay.
everthing has been done properly last thing i want is a dodgy car in the middle of the bush lol.
i have also done everything myself bar the tuning.
it can be done cheaper but im a bit of a perfectionist with my fourbys.
no not scared of the dark haha just the wildlife coming out of it hehe although when u dip them from highbeam it takes a few seconds for the eyes to adjust from day to nite lol.
lights are 6 x lightforce 240 blitz haogens, and lux lights have had my own wiring upgrade with hid inserts done.
i used to do a lot of nite driving (shift work) down south so it was almost essential to see 6-700m infront of me and wa out to the side

enjoy

| wow! Thats a bit of work... Looks tidy though. Yeah I got the 3.4l petrol in auto. Came out of a BF XR8 and can you believe it. The Hilux uses more fuel than the XR... Figure if im going through that much fuel may as well have the power as well. Will the v8 match up to the auto in the 04????? |

G'day Pom, have you done the body lift yet? Just my 2 cents on whats involved.
bullbar, siderails if in to the chassis and towbar should all be lifted after you fit the body lift,
fit an engine and gearbox lift as well or do the following:
drop the radiator down to line up with the shroud and fan
fuel tank lift or extend the breather and filler hoses
I added a steering shaft extention but the standard one will reach for the 2" lift, you will need to remove the uni connection and the locator bolt and grind a longer slot in the shaft if you don't fit an extension,
heater hoses need re-aligning where they go to the firewall
if your lux is fitted with the 2 rubber boots around the gearsticks, take one out and enlarge the holes slightly to stop it pushing the stick out of gear
put new rubber flaps under the guards front and rear
when you get ready to do the lift, take the tub up first, remove all the bolts, and use a jack to lift the body, get all the bolts in the holes before tightening , watch the brake and clutch lines, I found it easier to remove the radiator, the gearshift boot and undo the fuel tank lines before lifting,
you will also have to watch all the wiring ect doesn't become tightened up due to lifting the shell, body lifts by the way are usually not legal in most states, pay to check , body lifting is the cheapest way to get the tyres to clear the body but it is a bit of work.

agreed to all above but i do have to admit tassiehunter hiluxs are one of the easiest ive ever done personally but u still do need to keep an eye on these things but u can also get away with most of those things but to do it properly u would address all of it
cheers
