hi all

i appologise if this thread has been alreay talked about, but because i have an aftermarket tank that holds 20ltrs of fuel, what fuel to oil raito should i be using.

And do what fuel does members on here use, i currently run just standard unleaded...

Does anyone use e10 or premium,,

I was running just normal unleaded and some el cheapo oil they had at a local servo @ around 25:1 (i was pretty rough when judging). I never had any problems. After adding pipe and jets etc i ran premium 98 unleaded i think it is, with Shell Advance Racing M Castor based racing oil @ 30:1 on Australia Day. I put 15L in a jerry can and add 500ml of oil. Had 2 tiny hiccups but it cleared up and could of been anything.
Getting close to riding are you? Gonna hit the dunes soon?

Premium unleaded only with oil at 32:1 (Motal 8000 or Shell racing x) not TTS its too thin.
Pay a bit more for your oil and you will make the money back in pistons you don't have to replace as often.

would you run 32:1 in the bush as well as the dunes? or would you streych it to 40:1?

Im using Maxima 727 syn/caster blend (smells real nice) at 30:1, no blowups yet ....touch wood Rolls eyes

32:1 Maxima K2 Synthetic, I have a 310 cyl and keep the ratio the same for pretty much all kinds of riding to look after the big bore.

have been hitting the dunes already, well not all of them as i have a spare 250r while im slowly rebuilding the other one. Im still having problems with 1st and second being very sluggish 3rd and 4th are bloody awsome, very quick then 5th its pretty sluggish as well, comming out from 4th gear band into 5th there is no extra gain in speed.

I have just changed my rear sprocket over, it was a 36 tooth then new one i got from atc haven is a 42 tooth, does a 42 tooth give you more bottom end power or top end?

Still havnt given it a run yet since the change over so not sure how it will go, was also told that the cdi box could be the problem and i should change that to see if that makes a difference through the gears.

Anyway thanks for the tips for fuel

larger rear sprocket gives you more bottom end,less top end

what front sprocket are you running kyle? and what size rear tyres?

36T is pretty high gearing if your running a 14T or15T front......

I'm running 14/39 with MX tyres (18 Inch) and it pulls fine through all range in every gear.

if it is sluggish lower down and not pulling right through to the top end in every gear it may be the crank seal on the clutch side is leaking and letting some extra oil in.

running 14 on front sprocket, how hard is it to change a crank seal, the size of the tyres i think are 22-10-8 will have to double check

14/36 on 22's is pretty tall gearing.. 14/42 is much more realistic.

to change the crank seal on the clutch side you need to remove the clutch cover and the primary drive gear off the crank then you can just pick the seal out and push a new one in. on the LHS you can take the mag cover off and pop the flywheel and stator plate off to do the same thing.

you could be down on compression too, do you know how long since it had a new piston and rings?

have alot to learn, when it comes to the mechanical side of things, compression is really good, got it done at the robertson brothers at mayfield, done a really good job with a new wiesco piston and ring, its about 71mm the bore now

will go for a ride on saturday and see how it goes, When ridding from a cold start its sluggish all over but when it warms up its not to bad, but still 1st and second is sluggish

was also thinking of changing the position of the need its in the middle but thinking of putting on 2
