Stolen 2 x KTM 450 quads from defence towers in Darwin
both did not have keys and lanyards in them
pro job, bikes were in undercover secure parking (not so secure now), both bikes were chained twice, fence was unbolted and other mesh fence cut perfectly and wheeled onto mainroad.
Im sure they would be gone now and never to be found but there is a chance they may come out.

we have been told one of them was doin a wheelie near some other riders houses but havent seen anymore of either of them.
As far as who stole it ive got my suspicions but its hard to get the cops to anything at all about it
at least they are still in darwin................ for now

sure did both quads (2 went missing) were wrapped up in 8m's of 12mm gal chain, yes i know its not the best but my theory is why have chain or wire rope u cant cut thru when u can either destroy the padlock or rip its wall mounting of. Both were run twice with chain then padlock to the chassis of my car, But the part that shits me is the fact they were in a basement carpark of the Australian Defence Force accomodation in darwin city that requires a swipe tag system to open the roller door, this is all good but the fencing that is on the east side of the basement carpark (buildings are cut into the side of a hill) is just pool fencing with tec screws holding it to the concrete wall, absolutly bloody rediculous type of fencing system with buildings that are set up like fort knox everywhere else u gotta swipe to get to the floor u live on swipe to get in the front doors, swipe the get to the pools, swipe to get to the gym, swipe to get to the grond floor carpark and almost have to swipe to wipe your arse and yet farking pool fencing as a security fence.

dont worry ive been sending emails left right and centre to the DHA (defence housing assocition) and the body corporate manager (these people authorise all work done and modifactions carried out) and all i get back from them is to bad to sad matey not our problem.

Now the insurance company is giving us hassle wanting to know what we were up to 24 hrs prior to the bikes going they want photo evidence of were they were and were the cock heads gained access, lucky for me i took photos of everything something like 40 pics of the scene were they got in as far as i could go with tracks etc photoed the chain like 10 times cause the cops didnt even "profanity removed" show up useless people they are and didnt even bother to turn up at a sighting of one of the quads doing a wheelie down a back road out in the sticks.

so basically i did everything i could possibly do with them parking my car as close as i could (just enough room to get out the drivers door) chaining them keeping them outa site as much as possible, everything.

the day we noticed them missing, first i got straight on the phone to the coppers they said no worries they be out to take finger prints from my car and the fencing, well at 3pm (i rang them at 7am to file the report) i rang them again to find out when they will be turning and they informed me they wouldnt be it would be too hard to get finger prints of my car and the fence to bad just in the of chance they might find something.
the next thing i did after intially ringing the cops was email all the motox clubs around the territory 5 in total, i then posted stolen notices here on ozatv, darwin 4x4.net and toyota owners club.com. then i emailed 12 trucking companies 10 here in the nt and 1 in adelaide and 1 in brissy and also asked them to pass the email around. The next thing i did id ring woody at race motorcycles in alice springs asking him to put a nation wide dealer email out with the vin and engine no.s in case they turn up that way.

so again done everthing i can and yet the insurance company is dicking us around.

well ive had my bitch i feel a little better now feel better when its all over wont be getting anymore bikes now 09 is allready over for me and it aint started yet.

when my banshee went missing the cops didnt come out till the next day,
then they did nothing anyway..
there was shoe prints going up my driveway from where the pushed it out. you could even read the nike imprint on it..big ass finger prints on the bak window they broke in thru
they joked abit n said theres not much they can do just let my insurance company know that ive contactee them..
then my misses came into the garage n they sucked in there guts pretendin to be all professional n asking here her side,when the whole time they were just perving on her..

your right it does help to let it out..
but sorry again man hope they find the bastards(or u n a baseball bat do)
and u get ur quads back..

i've been out riding n had 3 guys asking about my quad-seemed inocent they left in there car, went out to the same place 2 wks later(johnson rd-before they developed it) notyiced the same guys hanging around..
after my ride i loaded up headed home which was in edens landing got 2 st's before my house -noticed the same car was 2 cars back,so i kept driving heading to beenleigh-they followed intill they seen me pull up at the cop shop..

Bad luck about those quads mate, that has got to suck, hope the insurance comes through for you. I'd say they would have trashed the bikes by now [you know the saying ride it like you stole it] so a payout may be better.

Hope you find the bastards to, just make sure 100% of who it is and GET EM. make up a cattle brand with the word THIEF on it , get it red fu#@in hot and stamp it on the cu#ts forehead. No wait they stole 2 quads right? Well then you better brand there arse as well !

yeah thats what we are hoping now we know they have ridden at least one of them cause i reckon insurance wouldnt come thru if the engine shat it self 2 days after we got them back cause they "profanity removed" have flogged them to death.
i dont know if there will be any skin left after ive dragged them down the street behind my car to brand them but maybe if i brand it to the 3rd and 4th layer of skin im guarinteed it will be there forever haha.

Try this.
I had very strong suspicions when a bike of mine was stolen years ago.
I told the local outback WA cops and they did not sound like they were going to do anything.
A day later I went back in and asked them what they had done about it and they started with the why it's all too hard story.
So I told them that I had a few blokes and utes organised and that we were leaving right now to do a day light storm in and grab them ourselves.
They told me that was illegal, and I asked them what was illegal about 'just dropping in to see a mate about some stuff' and what ever happens happens.

The cop ended up saying come with me, I jumped in the passenger side of the cop car, my mate followed in the ute, and we went straight to the suspect AND INSTANTLY GOT MY BIKE BACK.

In distinct contrast to telling the cop "there that wasn't so hard now, was it"
I said "Thanks so much for your help officer"

Maybe that proceedure might work for you.

well so far no go still with the quads we are down in sydney at the moment for xmas and new year so i will be stuffed if they are spotted now.

the insurance company is still giving us the shits really bad and am starting to doubt wether they will come thru with the goods basically cause it was in a defence building and body corporate are not coming to the party with saying it was there fault that the roller door was buggered so i think the insurance company are starting to wonder why did someone see them were they were im really starting to be rid of the whole deal altogether.

as of now im writing a letter to the nt news casue there was a article in there about vehicle theft rates rising as aposed to more violent crimes and assults etc so im writing an email to them stating why they are rising and its the simple fact that the "profanity removed" coppers dont even investigate nothing.

dont get me wrong im not blaming the coppers that have to actually go out and do the work its the no good pen pushing ones behind the desk that tell them that its not a important enough case
and in my email i have requested that if any high ranking coppert wants to have a chat be my guest.

me and the missus have now both decided that we will not be riding /racing any more quads at least in the nt for this fact of laziness and will also selling my ltr 450 once fixed very soon and will end up buying new ones once we get to qld next year

Thats cause theyre too busy pulling people over doin ten k over the speed limit.... Their monthly quotas dont include doing actual police work.... theres no revenue in that

Mate bad luck with the Quads have you spoken to the Insurance Ombudsman in your state after the non-compliance of you Insurance Company to pay out.

nah not yet but insurance are still dickin us around and we cant get an answer out of them at all ever a maybe is impossible from them so at the moment im still payin 350 a week for something i cant even look at let alone ride i tell u this im get to the end of my tether and am ready to start causing havoc

Mate get on to the Ombudsman ASAP . If there not paying out you shouldnt be paying them anything. Its not you fault the security wasnt working to the best of your knowledge it was.

well after being very patient with the insurance company and the odd yelling match down the fone we have managed to come out on the good side. After 7 months and 13 days of paying bike payments and being constantly reminded of our missing bike the insuranse company finally came out and payed it too the full replacement costs of 2 ktm 450 xc with full nerfs. and also reimbursed us the payments back until we filed the claim on the 2nd of dec 08. In the end my partner ended up being $3400 richer over that time.

some of u wouldnt believe the problems we did have with the insurance guys and have to thank woody at race motorcyles in alice springs for being calm the million times we rang him to get copy after copy of your contract sent.

for some unknown reason they asked for a copy of it then didnt believe we had purchased 2 in one hit so asked for an invoice as well and then after still not believing us we told them to ring woody direct and ask him ,this all happened over about 5 months of long wait what i couldnt understand is why they didnt believe us especially when the insured amount was $28,000, dumbasses.

right up until about 2 weeks ago we had a sighting at least once a month but could not confirm it was our quad/s as they were gone by the time we got to the area so who knows im still up for a bashing if i see them though lol.

anyway thats it for now with the quads for me maybe end of next yr i might get back to it.
