I am doing another set this week . All they are is hand built snorkel made of ali with 3" fan forcing fresh air through the belt system. The reason why can am burn so belts is heat transfur into clutch from the crank cases. when you burn a belt at a temp put a new one on inrecord time if don't let it cool chances are you burn another very soon after. The round diameter of your duct connot be less 55mm . Funny how the rear outlet is smaller than the front inlet. sorta trying to fart through a straw. Just silly unless they are trying to build presssure in the box. remove the inner and get a plastic welder to weld a bigger outlet on more of a angle so better flow to right hand side of the quad then up past the gear shift to under neath the bonnent. we have found over the last few weeks air flow is very important in slow stuff . leave the fan running ten minutes after you stop while fuelling or having a P . Ive looked many ways of solving the problem but this is the only one that has good results so far. I will try to get my customer to post pics this week. _________________ Truth and Honor and Trust ... never under estimate Them.

Sounds good Husky.
Have you run a Rene up in neutral with a water manometer connected into the inlet tube before the CVT.
Mainly because I was thinking... Does the electric fan actually charge air into the system at 7,500rpm, or does the electric fan become a restriction.
You might of found a good fan but I was going to run an evacuation fan like they use in boat hulls, mounted under a cyclonic air clearer in the middle of the bonnet. and fan delivery / flow was my main concern.
I think it is a good ideal to leave the exhaust small if doing water work.
Like you said, to charge the CVT case and keep water out.
I've only ever blown 2 belts.
And both in Safari.
Both changed in 11 minutes and back in the race and on the gas at up to 121kmh+.
Still, these belts are probably a number one concern because they are so unpredictable.
Thanks for sharing your good work _________________ Can-Am X Team

The fan we used is from a boat shop . I don't know what a water manmeter is.
also the air ram fitting bought from the boat shop. On DC's X I believe he put a tee in the Ali tube near the top for air into the air box and shut off the original inlet. ours are straight into the belt box.
The air flow doesn't change whether at idle or at full revs . means the stock system doesn't help at all . a smaller motor would mean your battery would last longer but haven't had any trouble yet.
You can try a air filter as we did but we end up leaving it open.
we have also mucking with the frog traps to stop water flowing in reverse.
I forgot to mention number one is a bung to let water out.
anyway try it . is solving the problem so far. word is out but I still need to do paid work
The exhaust air needs to be larger to get air flow.
Can am do retro fit to solve the water leaking on all renegades belt boxes
By the way the Polaris CVT box is reverse to the Can am . ????
we are also working on some wings or ducts to force air around the motor like on brakes on V8's as the engine is very enclosed. As your aware the radiator are junk. PWR do a radiator with a oil cooler worth a look _________________ Truth and Honor and Trust ... never under estimate Them. |

It's Condo time, the first big race of the year is upon us.
This week end the quads will tackle the Condo 750 for the first time. It's a 2 day race with Safari style navigation. I'm lead to believe the quads will start at the back of the field; it will be interesting to see how they climb up the field as the day progress's. It's predicted to be wet....... interesting if it is.
Fill in the blanks.......who's on what? who will win?
Steve Baker
Chris Bullen
Brett Clissold HONDA 700XX
Darrell Knight Renegade 800
Colin Lawson Renegade 800
John Lindell

Man.... wish I was there.
No way my quad will be ready in time.
I think all entries are full, right?
Any how, keep it safe all and have fun out there!

What an awsome weekend, and great to go and put a lot of the stuff we learned from safari into practise.
John Liddel was on a Raptor 700 the fella on the 525 came 4th I think. _________________

There should be more of these type of events and I think there will. Condo was full, Finke entries closed a few weeks after it opened and Safari is fast filling up.
There are a few new events around the country having there first year like the Yillgarn in WA and I think a few more will pop up in the next few years.

That was the end of the last selective.
I actually nearly caught Col back, but yeah it looks a bit nancy backing off for that little bump
When I see a bump coming up and lots of people standing around...
I usually back off just a bit more because most people stand were they are most likely to see some "action".
I already had my fair share of "action" earlier
Where Col did pass me while I was trying to put my front tyre back on the rim.
Great race in some top country.
Surely there will be 50 quads next year.
highly recommended. _________________ Can-Am X Team

What would a 950s top speed be? Would Have to be a fair bit quicker than 125km/h. _________________ "If in doubt go flat out"
