OK, To separate the problem from the complaints, please post your symptoms here so that I can troubleshoot the behaviour.

I've just tested it on my computer here, and it is working for me 100% as expected. So obviously either there's a problem somewhere along the way for some users, or my expectations are wrong.

When posting, please include the following details otherwise I'll not be able to test your symptoms in a similar environment online.

- Please include which browser and version you're using.
- Include the section of the forum you were having trouble with.
- Please clear your browser cache (See how here to see if you have the problem pages 'stored' on your computer.
- Include more information of what the actual symptom you are experiencing is. Include as much detail as possible, and read the technical note below to see if what you think is the issue is not actually just how you're using it.



OZAtv is currently able to be optimised and tested for Internet Explorer 7 and Firefox 3.0.10 (at time of this post). If you're encountering the issues in earlier versions of these programs, please update them.

Expected Behaviours

Sorry Smitty... it's got to go geek to get this fixed.

If the issue was across the entire site for every user, it certainly would be easier to fix. So trying to sort out where there are issues is now the key. I've changed a few things that may relate to the technical part of the problem, but for most people, it may still take a few logins to clear up the issue.

Clearing your cookies may be the simplest solution, though note that if you do clear your cookies you may loose some automatic login aspects to other sites you have on your computer.

- When you visit the site, New Posts since your last visit will be shown with the orange icon.
- in a forum area, new threads will show with the orange new posts icon.
- in a forum section, new replies to a thread since your last visit will appear closer to the top of the list, and should also have a new post icon.
- when you read a post, clicking back will not clear the new post icon on the screen, but will have cleared it in the database - showing when you refresh the list.
- any posts you've not read during your visit should stay orange until you read them, or until you close the OZATV window. If you close the window, that technically ends the session, so all the New Posts (ie new posts since your last visit) will be set as cleared, as it classes this as a new visit.
- Recent posts and replies will always appear at the top of a list of topics. So if the new posts flag is cleared, you should still find it is on the top of the list if you missed it while it was marked as new post.

Noodles - please clarify this for me. When you click on a forum section (eg Buy and Sell) with new posts in it, you are then not seeing any new posts (ie orange icons) for new posts, nor for replies?

Or are you clicking on "View Posts Since Last Visit" and not seeing lots of orange? I've tested the "View Posts Since Last Visit" today and got orange posts.

brumpy followed this one up with the fact that the icon doesn't change if you just click back. The new post icon will clear when you click on the Forum name at the top of the post to go back to the list of posts in that topic area.

I've been unable to replicate this problem, but will test more when there's more posts to read. If you can test it yourself again (let a few posts build up first before you do test it) and post back here what you find that would be appreciated.

Ive just updated to internet explorer 8, it has seemed to fix the new posts not turning orange problem, even when you view one and then go back

Windows Vista latest patch
Fire fox 3.0.10

(and if for some ungodly reason i have to use it then)

IE7 7.0.6001.18000

The problem that is occurring is erratic (sometimes clearing cookies works sometimes it don't) but is as follows

open OZATV with no problems
orange icons appear indicating new posts
clicking any of the topics to go into the sub menu clears orange icon indicating new posts
also clears original orange icons when i then go to main menu via OZATV breadcrumb link

Have found a workaround for the problem,
it seems that i only have the problem when the log in to this site automatically check box is ticked (on the login page). If i log in manually each time i visit the site then the new posts feature works.
