The Chinese motors are probably the way to go these days if you want some cheap horse power just bolt'em in and off you go.
I've got one with a worked 90 motor in it,it's good when it's going but when its not its a pain in the arse..........

I have a GPX160cc motor in one of my Honda TRX70's, it fit in with minimal mods and goes very well.

I am going to fit one to a ATC70 as well, bring on the flat track!

i think a 125 electric start would be ideal, nice and reliable and cheap, not too mention a fair bit of power. a cam and compression change for a bit more power if needed

I recn have classes a stock 70 against a project may be a bit of a disadvantage, I recn it would be more exciting racing too if it was a more level playing field. Keep all the modded ones together, and vice versa.
Either way though I dont mind I recn its gonna be awesome fun.

Yeh would have to have classes. As there are some big bore 70's around.

Back to original question best engine would have to be over 200cc's lol.
Theres no better feelin than tryin to keep the front end down on a big powered 70.

This is shaping up nicely guys. Even though i dont have a "pit trike" (cant really call them a 70 anymore) i'll still be there to watch and film. This stuff will be gold in the DVD! Very Happy

I'm picking up a pair of ATC 70's tomorrow, looking to mount a bigger/faster engine in one of them.
Has anyone considered something like a CR80 engine, obviously would take a bit of messing around to fit, any one considered?
or What is the biggest lifan ( or other such side mount pit bike) engine that you can fit?

Hi mate, think the biggest thumpster, pitpro etc is the 160cc and apparently there pretty quick in the bike. As far as anything else you've got greenhumans (JMC) laydown motors as pictured above in my project
thats out to around 230cc, or theres Mart300r whos layed down an aircooled 250r trike motor and shoved it in, im pretty sure you could put anything in one (within reason) if you had the time, dollars and the equipment. I think Greenhuman has a fully suspended project for sale, that is if you want to keep your 70s standard and have a fast 70, anyway goodluck with it whatever you do, post some pics up of your new rides.
Cheers Stu.
