Felt like having a rant about somthings thats Pi**ed me right off. Im not a holden lover nor am i a holden lover, iv owned both & with both have there pro's & con's but this mornings events have made the final decision not buy neither in the future. This morning i took my 05 XR6 in 4 its 75,000km service (major service as by the log book) Service tech calls me a short time ago 2 inform me that the car was ready & good 2 go....yeah u guessed it..there was a "but", the bloke goes on 2 say that while servicing the car they broke the latch that opens the bonnet, its a common ford problem where this occurs & i have seen it happen 2 other ppls BA's in the past...he then goes on 2 say look ill get some prices 4 u but ill warn u now it could b pricey.....My fuse snapped then & there & i asked ...what do u mean ull get some prices 4 me? do u think im paying 4 this 2 b get fixed based on the fact that your trained techs did it?...i bring my car 2 u because u guys know the in's/out's of these cars & would b fully aware of common faults in any model across the board, the service tech then stood there with a blank face....& a pause...i then asked him ....lets say u & i were mates & i borrowed your car & damage it somehow....would u expect me 2 cough up the $$$$$ 2 get it fixed right? yes u would & rightly so....same situation...period!!!!....then he stated your out of warranty sir & it esculated from there & @ this point i was seeing red & the dealer manager comes over 2 find out what was going on & after another 10min of debating the point over & over....he tried 2 offer me some kind of voucher 2 use & i said no mate i got my car serviced & returned 2 me broken so no i dont want a voucher...i want my car back in the condition i gave it 2 u in..............to be continued....!!!!

The bloody ordasity of some peaple...
Thats disgusting Big Jb... keep us updated on this. This is a dealership correct? Is this where you purchased the car? If worst come to worse after you've explored all other avenues with no luck i'd take one of there (if they have one on the lot) 05 XR6 BA falcons for a "test drive"... it wouldnt come back with that bonnet latch either, then i'd inform ol' mate that its a common problem as im sure he's aware and i'd hunt around and see if i could get him a good price. I'd then warn him that these particular items are quite pricey. Evil or Very Mad
Good luck mate.

Email Ford Head Office. He has no grounds and I can't believe it ended up as you said.

The big two Aussie builders lost my dollars years ago. Last two family cars have been Toyota's and it's been a pleasure to deal with them. My current company car is a Holden, but our company car policy has changed and I can get pretty much anything now within a price range. Can't wait till 2011!

FYI. My current company car (March build Berlina Sportwagon with 10k k's) seat is already wearing out. Just sold the wife's 10 year old Corolla with not one single issue since we bought it new.

Update, Had a chat with both the service department & the dealer manager & again after time draining debates with me the best they r willing 2 do is 4 me 2 pay 4 either the part or the labour 2 do the job, turns out the part is cheaper. As this was not going in my favour i said id get back 2 them & after calling 3 other dealers service departments i pretty much got the same response so book it in i will, get the job done & unknown 2 them my wifes barber shop has a number of there customers so she will b letting them all know what happened & after the car is fixed they wont b seeing my car again & they will likely see a drop in there regular clients....so im now done with both holden & ford....."oh what a feeling 2 drive.....Toyota"!!!!

So you wont buy a Holden because of ONE bad experience you feel you have had with a Ford Dealer.... ?
And you wont buy another Ford for the same reason....?

No mate i dont think they r all crap, the after sale service is known 2 b crap, as 2 aussie companies they should b doing it better, my example is only 1 of many that i read each week in the paper. u hear about it all the time...common factory faults that customers try 2 get sorted out under warranty & the dealer doesnt want 2 know about it until the warranty runs out then they r keen 2 help because thats when they can make more money @ the customers expense. my mates old man is an engineer 4 toyota & i asked him what they would do in the same situation & he said toyota prides themselves on duty of care with customers cars & if somthing breaks (there fault or not) they would cop it on the chin & take care of it. this is a subject that has been covered on this forum many times (off the top of my head) i recall a thread about gearbox problems with (not sure which yr model) the Suzuki LTR450 & iv read many times how ppl r taking them back & the dealers r well aware of the problem being a factory fault & "some" dont want 2 know about it because its coming out of there pockets. Again let me say that the example iv given isnt me say every LTR450 out there is crap, im saying the after sales services can b very poor & saldy they need 2 wake up 2 the fact that good after sales service is what brings customers back

I work in development at Ford and although this is a common problem it is only caused by people being heavy handed with the latch (I assume you are talking about the plastic latch near the kick panel).

This dealership is a joke and I am surprised they still argued the point after you questioned them about what happened. This is a 10 dollar part with a 5 minute fitment time, they've probably spent more money argueing with you than if they'd just fixed their c*ckup.

Look up the Ford FCSD hotline in the White Pages and make a complaint, dealerships like this one cost Ford more sales than anyone realises. However, this type of behaviour is not just limited to Ford dealerships.

I can supply you the part free of charge but it would be a shame if it went that far.

No, these kinds of issues aren't limited to Ford or Holden, but they seem to have the majority of them. They also seem to be the manufacturers that have very poor customer service.

There problem now is they have screwed me one to many times and I will never spend my hard earned money on their products.

I'd do what azza450 suggested and make a formal complaint.
