Hey guys as a lot of you know im in the progress of rebuilding my '83 250R ( YES....AGAIN!!! Rolls eyes ) and im getting a custom swinger made for it as i hate the look of the standard swingers, even when chromed and i plan on having a chromed swinger. Im thinking the custom swinger will be either standard length or +2.

This is the design i was originally looking at getting made...

But i was told it may not work as the arch will interfere with the chain...

So i was wondering if any of you had pics of some cool 2nd Gen swingers or even ideas for a custom one as im all out. What do you all think of standard or +2 length? Is that a good length for the type of riding/crashing i do at Stockton?

Cheers.

Thanx.

Why not try something straight like this:

Or maybe the one you've got picture could be made straight, or could it be made with the rails curved inwards towards each other along its length, thus giving you the required clearance for the chain

Yeah i think straight is the way to go Shawn
Heres one of his straight swingers (in the background)

I was gonna get the carrier housing made to fit an 86 carrier backwards and get a brake stay built on the side of the carrier housing so that way i could use 86 ATC/TRX stuff and i'd have a bigger selection of hubs, carrier, axles and what not but i think it will end up being too much hassle. Now ive just gotta figure out what length i want. Rolls eyes

Whats a good length guys? Ive never used an extended swinger before. Is stock or +2 a good length?

Well fellas, i just ordered my new custom swingarm. Its the closest thing to what i originally wanted whilst still being functional for what i want. I ordered a STRAIGHT ladder design swingarm chromed and in standard length cause drifting and wheelies are cool! Cool Im keeping the carrier housing to fit the original 83 carrier as it will be a bit too pricey to buy all 86 stuff and then chrome that. Im getting a threaded hole put on it too on the left side so i dont have to run that big ol' ugly brake stay.
