I hope you kept some oil for professional sampling.
They can pretty much split every chemical these days.

Public forums are not the place for this sort of discussion until you are 100% sure.

the oil is at a lab now. there is some sort of cleaning solvent in the oil the oil filler cap was marked with paint pen the day before we heard noises that night . when the damage was done we were checking over the bike and the oil cap markings didnt line up .the oil is flamable
i was on the ktm.

That is so low if it was something flamable the motor could have gone bang big time ( more ways than one). how far did you get b4 it stopped.


myth busters did a test on engines puting different things into it till it went bang but i carn't remember what they did now? anyone ?

It just boils my blood to think there are people like this in Australia, let alone in the quad riding community. If you do prove it, we should have him banned from competing in an MA event ever again.....but I am pretty sure that he wouldn't have the balls to show up at another event anyway once we let the world know how much of an arse he is!

didnt even get half way the quad isnt just your normal ktm big money spent. oil cooler , crankpin welded ,ball bearing , cooling system mods,heat treated piston ,vavles the list goes on. it looks like someone put a bomb to the piston and barrel nothing let go in the motor. put photos up soon .its the ktm that you and jumbo worked on at the finke .
only one quad engine dnf. ive done the dash 3 times i know what it takes to make the bike reliable.

From a legal point of view:
This is a bad situation however I agree with the others who suggest using caution in making actual allegations against someone. Your facts must be 100% and even if you prove that someone tampered with your Quad unless you have witnesses or compelling evidence that places them there then I would say nothing and use it as a learning experience. You can however publish your findings (without names/accusations) so that fellow riders are aware and take their own security measures at race meets. Honestly you would be better off submitting your findings to the Police and letting them charge the “offending person�.
Personally:
I know a few bikies that will do all sorts of interesting chiropractic (unlicensed) maneuvers for your “friend� and I recon they would do it for free in this case.

As i can understand all the disgruntled people and how this sort of incident can and will damage the quad sport , please can we not name anyone on this forum unless it is 100 per cent positive, and by that i mean taking the appropriate action being that of police and or the governing authority , it is said that inocent until proven guilty.

I am not approving of this kind of action being that of fiddling with someone elses machine as it really annoys me , but lets do this the correct way , if anyone is found to be the offender im sure this forum does not have a problem with it being stated as to who , as long as it is information available to the general public.

I also hope that the quad in question can be repaired with minimal cost to the owner.

yeh its me scooter john with the ktm i will not name the person until i am 100% sure the cost to rebuild the motor so far is$ 3.800 . it was good to catch up with you guys at finke .looking forward to see you guys again but i not going for a drive with mad john he scared the f.....ck out of us

Hi all

As a warning to all people that make a post on this thread stating by process of elimination as to who the person or persons could be , you are actually finger pointing and making an assumption with out proof , make sure if you are going to point the finger in any way that you have evidence of your information , as i dont think that anyone would like to be blamed wrongfully and im sure it can be very damaging to any party be it that they are innocent or even guilty.

I will not tolerate finger pointing by way of eliminating all the riders , The evidence in this matter should be presented to the relevant authority and be dealt with in a manner appropriate ,or secondly if no further action can be taken due to non evindential proof this matter should be dropped and left alone.

It is not fair or sportsman like to point a finger at any person unless beyond reasonable doubt , and then going down the right paths.

Think that if the boot was on the other foot as to how you would feel, if an accusation was made about you or a family member

Mate if you Quad was tampered with that is wrong and the low life should be punished
BUT
Even if you do get lab results stating what was put in or done to your bike.
You still have to prove who did it, just guessing makes it wrong.If no one seen anyone do it then you are only guessing please do not destroy someones reputation on a hunch that may or may not be correct get the facts or learn from it ( don't leave gear unattended ) sad it has to come to this
