coolum sounds good, kinda in the middle

i am more thinking not to include Vic as they are already up and running, this was originally for NSW, but Qld also lack with good quality race series so lets not be dumb about it and include them with us, only natural i think?

don't worry with all our contacts we will be able to get support, thats the least of our worries, remebering also we could do this event with minimal sponsorhsip as it will be incoperated with club rounds, so we don't require all the crap that you have to have to run an open event like we did with the KTM challenge last year.

its about finding the right format and locations so we can get this up and running, this series won't conflict with anything else thats going on with racing in NSW or Qld so we will be able to maximise the entries by doing this alone, and for NSW guys this will be the only race series and for Qld we won't compete with the thunder X rounds unless i can talk to the organisers and get one round included with the Thunder X as a extened class format, just an idea.

keep the ideas coming and in the next couple of weeks, i will collate and contact some of you to find the best people to put the proposal to that i am writing up as we go along.

great news so far, spoke with the Lakes president today, his name is Rob and he is stoked to have us Quad guys back for 2010 for numerous meets, both club/interclub and maybe open events. also i raised the question about practice days there for club members, which you have to be a member to practice at a track and he is as keen as to get us on there as much as possiable.

if we have a series this track is a must, maybe the first round or the finale, for those who have not seen this track check out this link of the track http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XfxAga2EJcA

gotta start somewhere

keep the ideas coming guys

pigz, easy we have a series within a series?

or NSW can have extra club rounds with Lakes for NSW?

or we can't have it both ways there simply is not enough numbers yet. but all these are up for consideration

For the local riders 3 rounds 1 month apart for a spring series if all goes well another series later in the year all at club level.

What pigz has said should attract more rec riders to racing and therefore the numbers will grow rapidly. Rec riders are the one that will turn nsw into a racing state. The number of rec riders in nsw would out do all others states. So make it attractive to them and then boom, all the riders you can poke a stick at.

Coolum is an awesome track and place Smile
I think VIC rounds have lessened over the last year or so with only 3 Pro racers ? Just maybe difficult to bring it together quickly and they may have issues traveling to QLD if Tri State is closer ,Dunno ?
The problem with the KTM Challenge is it was organized @ the 11th hour and its success or lack of had nothing to do with naming rights or sponsorship . It seems odd how they paid thousands and a series was much less (which of coarse is appreciated )but now you know others will put in ... open it up
Keep the name simple without naming rights , make it about the race where and what then put it to a handful of potential sponsors in NSW - QLD and Vic ... support for major and minor packages and maybe even end up with prize /Appearance $$$ to help with travel and Trophy's to attract more racers .As you know Mick its not that hard to rally up sponsors. You will attract more racers and spectators if you keep the sponsorship on a level playing field and as it should be .

Sounds like a great idea Mick, as Sic Mic said a lot of CQ riders would support the series providing the locations were shared around, at least one in the north.

Valid points also re the travelling, no need to take the clubmen to the intersate rounds.

Dont think a VIC round would be viable, those guys already have the tri states that caters for the riders in the south - time to do out own thing.

interesting comments len, maybe for this series that we are planning you could come and help us on the day to make the event go more smoothly? as far as i am aware this event was one of the most organised and most fun events i have been too, thats not blowing my own trumpet, all the people who put the effort in, including Huey, Glenn Pickering, Carly, Shane Hardiman, all the flaggies and gate droppers, Worthy, Jo, Todd, the MX central guys, HMCC, Boothy, Thomas and of course excluding yourself that just turns up takes his trophies and his own sponsorhsip money that he wins back and goes home.
i have already told you what i think of your attitude many of times and its no surprise to see you are not listening.

lets all work to the future guys, we have some exciting options for next year, if people want to dwell in the past, let them stay there, and not participate, for all you guys there on the weekend at lakes, its a shame it didn't pay off, no matter what with practice days and race days our sport will grow.
it will take some dedicated people and there time to put this together, i am one of them, who else is with me?

Hey Mick ,
Everyone above did a great job ,no question ,well done and well organized . I shook Shane Hardimans hand and thanked most of the above for there efforts in organizing the event .
I'm not the enemy or bagging anyone for what they have or haven't done .
I Just made what is meant to be a constructive comment and referring to the Numbers of 20 racers that rolled up and feel maybe it maybe could have been more if promoted for longer .that's it ?
I was asked by KTM if the event would be a good one to support ,I replied Yes we need to get the racing going in NSW and you got your requested sponsorship money.
I then personally sponsored some money for the holeshot awards supporting the event myself Via ATV NRG.
I also raced the event for KTM as a sponsored racer again to support the event ...won Vets and expert and a few holeshot awards ,so what ?
Isn't that what I am supposed to do ?
You then send me a filthy Text message this morning bagging me out ,swearing, telling me what a so and so I am ? What ? Who do you think you are ? Pull your head in and refrain from sending me rubbish text messages thanks .
I agree with you on one thing lets put our differences behind us and get on with the job in promoting the sport in NSW.
I'm not being the tool here Mick ,not this time anyway.
Len x

Just some ideas.

Does anyone still have contact with the Moree MX Club?
A group of quad riders raced there in 2003 or 2004 and Dad still talks about that track sometimes.
If Barleigh Ranch is prepped like it was for the KTM Open that makes for some great racing.
Some QLD Tracks may be Gladstone, Clermont, Moranbah, Emerald, Blackwater or maybe some of the SEQ tracks like Roma, Reedy Creek, Tivoli (if the track is still open).

Heaps of options.
Would be good to see it come together. Maybe space the rounds out over the year so anyone who gets injured or breaks down they have time to heal and repair to keep numbers up.

hi, my brother four other guys and myself raced moree mx track on the weekend, great track, bit rough but thats just my fitness having a cry there. my brother and myself were discussing tryin to get a round of the cup out here, we had intended to bring it up at the club AGM in a couple of weeks. and feel around on the forum for support but it would appear most of the leg work has already been done. great minds think alike laughing .
something else i just thought i'd note for the female part of our quady comunity there is 5 ladies in moree who are getting bikes and are keen to go racing. the only downside to this is one lady in particualr who holds a fair bit of sway in the club who really doesnt like quads. but the rest of the club is very freindly.

The 4 to 5 rounds in nsw would be good , one day liences is the go for some ,some will turn up just for that. just make it about a 3 hour trip max and you will get more to ride.

Lets say where you live the max you will travel would be 3 hours to any nsw track this year. In the H cup. some might be as far as 1/2 drive max 3 hours to quirindi track.
