This was on the news a week or two ago me brother seen it, they said that it was a revenue raising venture & that there would be no double standards between them & us on were they can ride & were we can. So I guess we can go were they do, oh yeh if you PAY for the quad tour is the catch.
So if you pay for a quad tour you can go were we all wont to but if you go get rego, insurence, beach permits, you can only ride on flat sand, how much is one of these tours maybe worth it?. |

| They had better get all these tours done before it's sold off. I suppose when its gone they could do virtual tours like where your are standing now used to have 6,000 year old dunes but we managed to f*** it all up in 50. |

The tour is owned and opperated by the Worimi with no Government funding.
The land they are using is their free hold land that is not under control of the National Parks and as such is private land.
They are using 4WD Kymco 450 quads and the tour is very well run.

If all goes to plan, there may be great things to come from this that will benefit all of us.

I do get tense when I see all the BS going on about the dunes. I have been going there for 34 years and am yet to see any impact on the dunes caused by ATV's ( not counting magazine shoots)
I wonder about the protection of this and that now when the place was bombed, straffed mined and quarried ( I have talked to quarry workers with horror stories about the things they did when they dug up bones etc)
Where was this enviromental protection and concern for culture 30 or even 20 years ago when it would have mattered more? It may have been there but I never heard of it.
It also seems odd to get all caring while selling the dunes on one hand and stopping ATVers from doing imaginary damage on the other.
If ATVers get more riding areas that's good. It won't look any different especially if the Spitfires, Beaufighters and front end loaders are left at home.
My wish would be to see the Basin opened up for legal riding as everything you need is right there. |

stockton has the biggest sanddunes in the sothern hemisphere but we carnt go & enjoy them, not even before they get sold, I dont think the japs will care if there is a tire mark in there sand.
I know there will be people who do the wrong thing so here's an idea If you have a gold drivers licence, you have proven to the RTA & Aust that you are one of the safest most resposible vehicle operators on the road, stockton is classed as a road, so if you have rego & insurence, permit then you should be able to go anywere on stockton beach except the ends ware people swin use the beach obviusly. but making money is the only thing they care about, what happened to giving everybody a fair go, look at the beach & how much we can use, you car'nt call that fair. |
