Who is a player and who is a spectator when it comes to Lotto or competitions Confused Also has anyone known or heard of anyone ever winning any major prizes in the lottories or any other competitions for that matter Confused Confused Confused I my self have dabbeled in the lotto & other competitions for the past 3Yrs and have'nt won very much at all. So I tend to sit on the sceptical side of thing's. Just thought I'd put this one out there to see what other people's thoughts are on the topic. I'm a player but I'm slowly thinking of going back to being a spectator.

Spectator - I have a higher chance of being killed by lightning or a venomous snake.

That's sort of what I mean Bigjon. Of all the people I've known through-out my life, I have never heard the words (I'VE WON THE LOTTO) come out of their mouths. Even if they did I'd like to see them back it up with a bit of proof Rolls eyes Of all the draws that have been drawn since I think around about 1984, I can't believe I've never run into a winner eek

Yeah, I'm with earthmover on this subject.
If anybody but our various Govts owned it, it'd be illegal.
One of my mates did win 18 grand. By his reckoning, he was still over 5 grand behind. No more playing lotto. He quit while still behind....

I dont gamble at all, but I think instead of 20 or 30 million first prize, they should have 20 or 30 one million prizes so its more fair.

But when you think about it yogie your write about it in a round-about way. For example when a lotto's prize pool jackpots so dose the amount of entries to that prize pool. So with a country of something like 20 odd million people, if each person was to place a coupon on which contains 12 games in it, that works to approximatly 240 million different combimations eek and yet it continues to, in some cases not go off 4 weeks in a row Rolls eyes So instead of having 20 or 30 one million prizes there should be 20 or 30 division 1 winners.

Hello everyone. This is Mrs. bigjon. I'm sorry to inform you, but this afternoon bigjon was bitten by a brown snake. While waiting for the paramedics he was then struck by lightning. I guess he should have bought a lottery ticket Evil or Very Mad

Been reading a little George Orwell Rossco? Afraid the Lottery is just a scam to get more money out of the Proletariat?

I have heard of a few people winning a few prizes... Sisters work mate won 2 Million, Bloke down the road won 500k...

I guess the problem is that most people who have won/ come into a large amount of money, are reluctant to talk about it. My mother says that if she came into a large amount of money (IE Million Plus Dollars), she would not talk about it... and cites the case of Graeme Thorne.

http://www.thecrimeweb.com/murder_of_graeme_thorne.htm

In a nutshell, Eight year old Graeme was kidnapped and Murdered by Steven Bradley in 1960 (In Sydney) shortly after his parents won the Opera House Lottery.

Police got the bastard, He died in Goulburn Gaol in 1968.

I know where your coming from wa5. That crap has been going on for years. I was watching a docco on MA & PA Barker, I think it was back in the 20tees. The difference between the fella you've been talking about and them was, they would kidnap mostly bank managers and hold them to ransom eek The only thing is they did'nt have lotto back then. Also what makes a lotto winner that much different from say a surgeon/doctor or a lawer Confused

Well, if I saw a lotto winner drowning I might help. If it were a lawyer drowning, I'd probably throw the lawyers family in. And I'd ask for a second opinion on the doctor. laughing laughing laughing

I suppose the difference, between a Lotto winner and a high salary earner, is that the latter is likely to have a good deal of thier money invested in stocks/ property etc, where as a recent lotto winner will have access to a lot of money.

I'm not really interested in the money side of thing's. It's the stastics, for eg how long do they play for before a win Confused Do they play/enter in multiple competitions Confused Do they have a system or do they change the way they play all the time Confused And I understand where you're coming from wa5 with not making a big deal after such an event. I myself would be keeping quiet as well.

Don't gamble, never have, never will. Gambling is a lose lose situation. My biggest gamble is getting to work and back with all the nutters driving cars these days!

Cheers..............................Pete! laughing
