The first club day at Nth Brisbane Motorcycle club is the 21st of Feb.
I am in and have another 2 guys (Phil and Andrew) seriously interested as well. If we get more then 4 quads they will include the quads as a class for the year.
Also Mike Hatcher Motorcycle down at Arundel on the Gold Coast is another great club that is all fired up this year to have quads racing. They host a big flat track event soon called the Gold Coast Cup and they usually have a heap of quads come from all over. They should have there events listed soon for the year on MA QLD website.
Another great form of racing is oil flat track and my favourite, the surface is a compacted sump or vegetiable oil dirt mix and is a very high speed setup. Not many of these tracks left but again Action Park at Maryborough and Greenhill Raceway at Kempsey in NSW are extremely keen to see quads at there tracks. The only change needed to do this from dirt track is to run a sort of wet weather slip on the rear (Kings Veloce, Hooiser or American Racer are good setups).
For those of you that are new or interested in knowing more about how to get started I am happy to help or lend some advise. Basic needs to get involved is a MA Open Licence, nerfs bars, tether switch, the correct tyres (Kenda Dominators, Charisle Turf Tammers, Kings Slashers to name the popular ones), number plates, back protector and you are ready to race. It is a good idea to lower your centre of gravity of the quad as it helps with high speed corner stability.

The first club day will be held at Nth Brisbane Motorcycle Club on the 21st of Feb. I am in and there are 2 other guys (Phil & Andrew) seriously interested. The club is very keen to have quad racing there and if we get at least 4 at this club day they will run us as a class for all the events for the year.
There is a dirt track down at Arundel too on the Gold Coast called Mike Hatcher Motorcycle Club and they are like wise very keen to have the quads racing there. Hatchers host one of the larger flat track events amongst others coming soon called the Gold Coast Cup with quads come from all over. They should have there event schedule up on MA QLD in the very near future so keep your eye on that.
If you are new or interested in getting started into joining us but not sure what you need to do to get your quad "race ready", feel free to contact me. I am more than happy to give some advice. It is pretty cheap and easy to get into, here is a bit of a summary (can also jump onto MA website and check out the rules section):
MA Senior Open Licence and be signed up to any club.
Bike Mods - Tether lanyard kill switch, Nerf Bars, Rear tyres (no knobbies - here a a few of the better dirt track tyres - Kings Slashers, Kenda Dominators, Charisle Turf Tammers), I recommend lowering your quads' centre of gravity this helps with high speed corner stability.
PPE - Back protector, AUS approved helmet, MX boots, MX clothing.
Also another form of track racing is oil track , this is my favourite track to ride on. It is very high speed racing on a compacted sump/vegetable oil & dirt mix. Action Park up at Maryborough and Greenhill Raceway down in Kempsey NSW are awesome tracks and the clubs 100% back the quads aswell. The only thing you would need to modify from your dirt track setup is to change your tyres to a wet weather slip tyre on the rear (Kings Veloce, Hoosier, American Racers are a good start).
