Darwin motorcycle Club announces major sponsors for 2010 Kamfari

Channel 9 and NT Motorcycle Centre have been awarded co naming rights for the 2010 Kamfai mud race.
The event will be known as ‘NT Motorcycle Centre / Channel 9 Kamfari 2010’

Kamfari is a five hour race for senior bike and quad riders through mud, slush and bush. It takes it’s toll of rider and machine with usually only 50% of riders finishing the event.

Event director Clint Holmes said that each year the event just gets better and better. Last year’s ‘Jail break edition’ at the Gunn Point Prison Farm saw the most riders and spectators the club had seen for quite a while.

“I put most of this down to the location ( riders were riding in and out of windows and doors of the old jail buildings ) and the excellent build up story and coverage that Channel 9 gave us”

This has created a surge of interest from sponsors and southern riders.

Clint stated that this years event won’t be at the prison farm and is keeping the new location under his hat for the time being.

Previous 4 time Kamfari bike winner Brad ( Wonka ) Williscroft is unable to attend this years race due to KTM team commitements, but Australian pro Enduro rider; Jehi Willis will be riding and hoping for a podium finish aboard his Husqvarna.

There are rumoured to be more southern riders setting their sights on this years race but they have not committed at this early stage.

Prize money for the event has risen to $5,000.00 total, and there are trophies for outright and all classes.
