Some running repairs yesturday, a few welds and some wiring and all is good. |
Free Ride?? ha ha
Just Got home, Finke number 10 done and dusted. Kept Pete busy all week as usual. Thank mate be lost without ya. Had a really good run except had to fix a flat on the way down but thats Finke hey? Well done to every one that had a go. 75 odd quads. Can we hit the ton next year? _________________ Smitty |

i cartwheeled on the finish line at finke at around 120 when an XR 650 decided to turn in front of me bent the bike up pretty good smashed my back in and i thiought I had dislocated my elbow but off for xrays today as the doc reckons I've snapped the radial head off my elbow boney thing. First thing I asked was if there was any footage but no one got it on film
Oh well next year will be a better run |

for those of you interested, Aaron is pretty sore, had a rough long trip home in our Navara. Knee damage, ribs broken? concussion, shoulder injury, lots of bruises - crushed helmet. Amazing that he managed to get it back the 160 klm to Alice ( not that he remembers ) , had to pretty much lift him off the quad and into the ambo. I believe he had scans done in Geelong yesterday, waiting for results. He ( we ) was obviously disappointed after holding such a good lead at the turnaround. Racing -- can be a cruel cruel sport somedays. Chad ran out of fuel while leading day 1 and crashed day 2, Smitthy had to fix a puncture, Cameron crashed twice and had to fix damage, Aaron major crash, Jake ran out of fuel, Rick 5 min. penalty, ---there are lots of hard luck stories. Congrats to LB again. well deserved win.
On the timing thing for Cameron, its still not sorted . He came into Finke in 5th after crashing. Even though he was on the hand written 1st day finishing sheets as 74th outright- 5th in class , for some reason they went to start him off Sunday on the 33rd row, ( 250 th ? ) Once they corrected his start row back to 12? they still didnt fix the times, so its still out of wack until they do. He was even using one of their transponders. 207 kmh average is pretty awesome though !!!! |

Yeah got a phone call yesterday morning saying that they had found it. The fella that helped the ambo's get Stirling into the chopper said he had put it in plain sight for the sweep vehicle. But decided to go out thursday morning to show where he put it. But it got the better of him and he went out 930pm wed night and it was gone so he had a good look around with no luck. till he gave up and went to do a u turn to come home and the lights picked up some thing reflecting in the bushes on the other side of the road. So some low life had wheeled it up the road and hidden it to come back and steal it later. It takes a new level of low to steal a bike off someone that got airlifted out unconcious.
But on a good note the organisers ambo's officials etc were flawless and despite not finishing we both had a ball.
Scooter cheers for the sponge bath even if it was only the top half.
Pete cheers for tolerating my uneeded help/questioning.
Mick and Tiff thanks for your support, concern and getting my bike back to Alice.
Princess thanks for the hell ride back to Alice in the ute.
Looking forward to success next year.
Cheers John |
