Looks like we are heading towards having enough entrants to run a stand alone 4x4 class at the Thumb Pump 300 Cross Country race on April 25-27 this year. We need 6 to get the class off the ground, otherwise they will be run under another class with the 2x4's.
there is nothing stopping a 4x4 quad entering ironman. I am just offering the 4x4's their own class. If i got 6+ 4x4 class entrants, there would still be prize money, but not as much as the other classes. The more 4x4 class entrants, the more prize money....
Min 6 4x4 class entrants = 1st $300, 2nd $200 and 3rd $100. This way even 3rd will cover their entry fee.
Just out of interest, do you people want a 4x4 Iron-redneck class or a 4x4 bobby-joe and Jim-bob teams class. All jokes aside, it's your event so you can make up the classes......within reason.

Andy from Austraco has said he will run his Grizzly in the 4x4 class.
That's 1.....5 to go to get the class up.

What classifies as a 4x4 class quad?
Must be produced to be capable of 4 wheel drive.
Must have auto/CVT type transmission.
MA will not allow anything over 700cc + 5% at this stage.
4x4 mode does not have to be used during the race, but the quad must be capable of doing so if required.

Hi guys
Mick is interstate for the rest of the week and he just asked me to let everyone know that he made a little oversight for the rules of the 4x4 class.

The rule saying that your 4x4 quad has to have a Auto/CVT Transmission is not correct. If you enter this class you may have any type of transmission Auto or Manual as many types of Utility quads have manual transmissions as well

Thanks guys
Smitty

I reckon this pretty clearly spells it out Yogie, must be capable of 4WD, doesn't mean you have to use it but it's gotta be able to do it.

New guidelines for the 4x4 class at the TP300
Must be produced to be capable of 4 wheel drive.
MA will not allow anything over 700cc + 5% at this stage.
4x4 mode does not have to be used during the race, but the quad must be capable of doing so if required.
I need at least 6 paid entries before I can allow 4x4 as a seperate class, so get your entries in asap.

hey mick
is the class run at seperate times in other words can a rider run the pro class and also compete in the utility class?
i know this would rule out some people but 600km isn't much for a rider over 2 days is it???

Time constraints mean all classes run together.
Makes for better racing anyway.
Not worried about getting beaten by a farm quad are ya?
Mick@47
P.S. It's ok, I know where you are coming from. Give me a call on the mob.

Hey Grizz are you talking about Doug Francis???? If so you don't want to give him any more than 2 Corona's because the old fella won't be able to handle it and will have to sit down and have some shut-eye for the rest of the day lol

Andy, that Grizly in your Avtar looks mean as.
You're only going to scare people off.

By the way, nice sneaky move getting out of Iron Jumbo.

taht might be going a bit far but maybe we could make it so that the 4X4's have to carry a bale of hay or something on their carry racks.......
