Yes i know its not a trike but its what the 250r evolved into back in the day and is still one of Honda's greatest 4 wheelers, the TRX 250r.
Ive always wanted one of these so the oportunity arose to get hold of a sad '89 bare frame TRX, kind of cool as it was the last year they were made.Currently im doing a mock up build to make sure i have everything then its time to strip it and power and paint not to mention some brand new OEM plastics..........am i crazy, well i guess i have to be but you cant take it with you so they say.

Stripped and looking for a new home.....

The big suprise while searching for bits ( thats my favorite part ) was how many items i located right here in Australia, other bonus is that a lot of '86 trike and 400ex parts are the same and fit perfectly.

So at roller stage im going with a desert racer look with IMS 15L tank and Pro Circuit pipe, new PRM grab bar, new Pro Taper's, reversed front rims and a big box of OEM brackets, rubbers and small parts coming in from the US this week .

The much sort after top engine mount and new tank mounts.

The mock up pre build is still happening with gusto, i love how the motor & carb is so easy to get at in the TRX frame, putting a trike configered motor in required the exhaust manifold to be rotated for the pipe springs to line up and the carb boot must be a tad longer on a TRX (10mm) so running a reed spacer gives the correct length, perfect !
HONDA RULES !

Rad hose here will be re-routed to aviod the pipe, too close.

Here's the 87 TRX i have, this one will be for sale as it gets closer to roller stage, if you own and 85/86R this will be ideal for an engine swap , ride the trike one weekend and a quad the next...too easy.

Yeah its sitting in a bad spot for sure Dom, ive got 4 TRX rads and one has offset tubes so that should fix the problem, this is why im doing a mock up build before i powder and paint this machine just to iron out any bugs, got to make it look pretty for its summer first ride.
