WHY? |
Because the '83R is frigin' choice... Why did you say it like that? Dont roll your eyes at the aircooler! Whats wrong with the '83R? Ive got an '83R!!! What are you trying to say Paul? |
Ha! Look out.........I thought I may have gotten a bite or two!
Sorry about the eye thing!
But ask your self this "Kick arse drummer with a trike", if you had the choice between an 83 or 85 R............what would you choose?
Tell the truth! |
Your right PC... I AM a kick arse drummer with a trike and if i had to choose between the '85R and the '83R i'd have to take the '83 for it has much more torque and controlable power than the '85. Everybody knows that...didnt you? Me either. I would of taken the '85. You learn something everyday! _________________

| I keep forgeting you kiddies have never had any real trike racing experience. I know it wasn't nearly as serious as todays farting around in paddocks and sandhills pretending but racing trikes was fun anyway. And thats why a 350X is a much better ride than a watercooler as well. T+CP. |

That still doesnt tell me why the 250 Air coolers are better than water cooled?
All that says is your better than us because you were lucky and old enough to have raced trikes.
My question was, why are they better? And I cant see any explanation for the 250, we weren't talking about the 350x.

| Much more torque and controlable power than a watercooler. In the application I said, flat tracking and speedway, in my limited experiences with owning numerous air and watercooler when they were new, I found the aircooler much better and the watercooler lacking. |

| I was thinking handleing. With the newer technology (Shocks and geometry) the later models would have been alot more rider friendly, but I guess this is not the case. |

Im still asking my self the same question
I have had so much trouble with this bike I only got about 4 decent rides in before it blew a gear I think I should have kept my old 85
I just went and ordered a .80 over piston n rings so hopefully it should be back together and going by the weekend and all the problems with it should be gone |

The new geometry didn't really come into effect when they were lowered.
Like I said I found the older model better for speedway etc. Where suspension was essential like MX the watercoolers were better. |

I have ridden and owned both ,In my option I would stay with a water cooled trike Faster more responsive handle better ,I couldn't count the amount of times I have gorn around the outside/inside of an air cooled on a track ,as for a 350 x I have never owned one only because the power to weight was a little on the low side for me.

What track?
Does that mean the aircooler was in FRONT at some stage or were you lapping them? |

I got the barrel and the new piston back today got it all together and it was still doing the same thing burning oil and going crazy,So I ripped it all apart again and found out that I didnt put some spacer thing that sits in the clutch side crank seal, got it back together AGAIN and it took a while to start but once it did it seemed alright it wasnt burning oil and going crazy took it down the street and back and it was going good and going through all 5 gears,So its fixed once again just hopefully it stays going.
Im gonna take it down the park tomorrow and give it a run..
will get some better pics tomorrow

I wish, its unavailable here in Australia i can only do black or white, there is PVC in colours but its not really suited for this type of application. _________________ 1989 TRX 250R |

Looking good Jamie.
Do the rear tyres have left and right written on them. I dont know about your tyres but the dunesliders are clearly labled and they have the peak of the paddle on the inside closest to the frame. just an observation _________________
