g'day people,
got a problem with my 1984 atc125m. ive just recently
put new friction plates and srpings in the clutch.
now when the engine is running and its put in gear, the trike jumps forward while still at idle and sometimes stalls if not given enough throttle. also at idle it will creep forward while idling in gear. ive adjusted the clutch to exactly what the service manual says and followed the manual exactly when putting it back together.
just wondering if anyone else has had the same problem before?
i also have a 1982 185s that i did the same job on,
but theres no problem as with the 125m. |

Did you pre-oil the new plates?
To adjust the clutch properly, you undo the 14mm locknut on the clutch cover, turn the slotted screw anti-clockwise till it just nips up then back it off 1/8 of a turn. Lock up the 14mm nut while still holding the scew in place with the screw driver.
The problem your'e having is a riding clutch so imagine that screw is in too tight and not letting the clutch free spin.
The 185s has a completely different clutch arrangement to a 125m. |

| yeah i pre-oiled all the clutch plates liberally. i have already tried adjusting the screw to those specs but doesnt seem to change how the clutch feels. but i just give it one more shot just to make sure. |

It might too tight to start with because of the new plates.
Make sure you fully loosen the screw off and start again with the adjustment.
If that does not work you will have to take the clutch off and check that you can free spin the clutch hub one way easily and locks up the other way. If it does not do this take it apart again and recheck. |
