Once again thanks to all the event organizers, track preppers, flaggies, officials and fellow racers for a great day of racing. It was my last ride in NT as my quad gets shipped to TVL tomorrow.
Hopefully the riders in NTH QLD will be as enthusiastic and helpful.
Thanks for everything, and keep the rubber side down
Cheers James |

The Territory Quad Association Inc. held the final round of the Precision Motorcycles Build-Up Series on Sunday with a great turnout of riders and spectators. Despite being a very hot day everyone had a great time. Current No. 3 in Australia's Intermediate rankings Mark Allcorn scored a hat trick in the Pro-Class taking out all three races on the day, but not without a strong fight from Blake Waldmann. The pair produced some of the most exciting riding seen during the series.
Race 1 saw Allcorn take to the lead early with Waldmann left tangled at the holeshot corner with Matthew Stone. Stone made his racing return this weekend after a six month break caused by a broken leg received while competing in the Finke Desert Race. Relegated to the back of the pack Waldmann and Stone managed to claw their way back to finish second and third respectively behind Allcorn. Race 2 was the nail biter of the day, Waldmann taking the lead with Allcorn constantly at his heels for the whole race, as they hit the finish line neck and neck Allcorn managed a last burst of power to take out the win. Race 3 saw Allcorn get a comfortable lead to take out the final win of the day, with Waldmann in second and Stone third.
The Clubman class again saw the biggest field of riders for the day with some fierce competition for line honours. John Abela, Cameron Dunwell and Ashley McGough all managed to take out a win making for interesting speculation of who will be in the final top three when the scores are toted at the end of the series. Jenna-Lee McKinstray showed the boys a thing or two, to take home one second, a third and a sixth place in the class.
The junior classes as always provided some top class racing. Lachlan Stone, in the 200cc class, almost snatched three out of three wins, but an off in race 2 forced him to settle for a third place. Stone finished first overall. Cousins Hayden and Jordan Bennett performed solidly, chasing Stone down to finish second and third overall.
In the 90cc class young gun Ryan Thomas took out three wins for the day, with Brandon Geers and Billy Barlow at his heels to finish second and third.
The 110cc class saw Billy Barlow and Ben Shenton battle it out for line honours, each taking a win in races 1 and 2, for a final showdown in race three. Shenton pulled off the win in race three, with Adam Cottier in second and Jay Abela in third.
Junior 2 wheel bikes made their debut at TQA's track this weekend with 50cc, 65cc and 85cc classes on offer. Ramon Owen was first overall in the 50cc class. Matthew Maurice, Luke MacDonald and Ryan Shenton were 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the 65cc class and Tristan Owen finished first in the 85cc class, with Jackson Goold and Taylah Maurice in second and third places.
James Creber tore up the track in the Veterans class leaving Graham Murray and Leigh Jefferies battling it out in their own race for second and third positions. Murray's persistence paid off, taking out two second wins to Jefferies one.
The combined Womens/4x4 class saw Jenna-Lee McKinstray take out two wins, but a DNS in the final race left Savannah Smith to claim overall first place honours with Jasmin Timney in second and McKinstray in third. The 4x4's ripped around and are always great fun to watch, Trevor Reibelt took out overall first place honours, Darren Colbert in second and Andrew Barton-Ancliffe in third.
That was the final round of racing for 2009. TQA will be hosting their presentation night this Sunday to sash the winners of the series. _________________ Truth and Honor and Trust ... never under estimate Them. |
