hello there this is my first post on here but been looking on these forums for ages and finally joined, i scored a 1982 atc 70 for $150 dollars aus yes im from australia ,
well it was pretty shabby was missing a front wheel and didnt run ,once i got it home i done the usual checks spark and fuel it fired up so then i set to restoring this old girl and here are some pics of my build so far hope u like
when i got her home
pulled down straightening frame
forks
kreemed the tank cause was rusted to buggery
and did a full rebuild on the motor sand blasted and painted new gasket kit lapped valves new rings honed barrel and got a helicoil done on the spark plug hole

motor in frame
had to make a new footpeg foot rest thing cause one was missing
my exhaust all welded up and repainted with potbelly black paint
sent my tank and forks out to a mate to paint in his booth waiting on them still
original plastics in good shape no cracks so going to try ans renew them if not maybe buy new ones
so thats all the pics i have for now at the moment im waiting on my tank and forks a full sticker kit rear atc sticker tank decals etc, and my seat is at the upholsterers ill keep use posted as i do more hope u like it as much as i do cheers |

ok heres some updates got my seat back today my tank and forks heres some pics
just waiting on stickers now and reassemble oh and i am makin a custom grab handle like the one i have seen on atrike on the 50 nuts dvd called twinky |

got some updates for yas all
made a new chain tensioner the old sproket one was rooted pics
now ill jjust put some random pics of it together just gotta stick my tank stickers on, i am waiting for the paint to fully cure cause ive had problems when i did my 99 z50 tank stickers, the paint was dry but reacted with the decal and made it bubble, any way heres pics

If you get your mate spray some 2 pak clear over the the tank with the decals they will be longer lasting particularly if you spill some fuel.
One of the best restos ive seen in a long time. |
