Doing a little freshen up on my 83 250r its not going to be anything spectacular Just a bit of a tidy up to look half decent.I've recently replaced the bottom end bearings, clutch, had the top end ported.
I got a new 38mm mikuni flatslide carb coming for it,finally going to have all white plastics.
Im painting the frame and swing-arm myself, shaved all the unwanted stuff of the frame-airbox mounts/brake line clips & some broken clip things that the cables go into),there were a few cracks in the frame so I welded them up,I got it all sanded back and undercoated today if its sunny tomorrow it will be painted Just have to get paint and clear tomorrow morning its not going to be red anymore.I have to get a helicoil put in the cylinder cause its stripped out then I can put the motor together and tidy and paint that, replace the pivot bolt bearings and just wait for the carby to arrive then it should be going again.

Update.....I have been having a bit of trouble with the motor not running right. When I start it,it idles pretty rough like it should when its cold but when it warms up it does not want to idle properly then when I take off and get out onto the beach no back pressure does not want to idle at all I turn the idle all the way up then it goes ok but still not 100% then when It cools down for about 15mins go to start it back up it idles way way high.I thought it was sucking air somewhere and there was a bit of play in the crank even with new bottom end bearings so I got another complete crank, new bottom end bearings and seals, new gaskets,I've tried different carbys and different carby boots but still does not want to run properly. It smokes holly hell and within 5mins of letting it sit there idling I have to turn the idle screw all the way up for it to idle.I've got the motor apart again and the piston was covered with unburnt gunky oil with a huge pool of petrol at the bottom of the crank case.It doesnt seem to be burning gearbox oil.Im running 32:1 with cheap valvoline oil (I need to change to a better oil) with a br8es plug...Could it need a hotter plug for it to burn the oil or something wrong with the coil not sparking right when it gets to a certain temperature?? any help will be appreciated..I really want to get this trike going properly so I can finally go for a decent ride on it..
Thanks

I know you said youve tried different carb setups mate what ones did you try exactly??Also what pilot jet are you runnin does the mixture screw make a difference when its idling if theres no difference it could be way to rich on the pilot circut hence the smoke and wont idle and fuel in the crank case.If you have an air box mate put that on with the lid on try a bone stock 36mm pe carb(dont qoute me on that for the stock size pretty sure it is) 130 main jet NAh prob go 138 or 35 with your pipe.55 pilot and go from there 1 an a half turns out on mixture screw.Honestly mate run it with the airbox from my experiance tryin all different setups it worked best with airbox with lid off jetted to suit. Also could be the crank case seals i know you said they are new i put after market brandnew ones in mine once and got 2 days out of the ol girl and couldt get it to run right jetting was always different done a leakdown test on the crank case found it straight away put honda ones in it problem solved.before you pull it apart do a pressure test on it have you got a tester if not id be more than happy to whip ya one up mate as i need one myself as ive lost mine i can build another if you would like they are very handy or if you do have one thats what i would be checkin before you pull her apart again .shell be right mate wont be to much.soz for the babbling on lol
