 |
|
Hello all.
Does anyone know if the 88-89 TRX250R bearing carriers and the TRX450R bearing carriers are the same diameter (usable on either model)?
I'm installing a 2006 TRX450R swingarm onto my 1986 ATC250R. From what I've read, I should use all 250R items on the rear end (brake caliper, axle, etc).
I have a brand new Durablue Eliminator axle that I'd like to be able to use, instead of purchasing a 450R axle. Comparing part numbers from aftermarket companies for their axles makes me think the 250R and 450R axles must be different.
If anyone can throw me a bone, I sure would appreciate it. |

yes. you will find 250 slightly wider so you have centre it in the 450 swing arm to line up chain. this eill make the caliper bracket baggy so you will have to shim it _________________

So, if using the 450R swingarm, is it better to use all 250R components in order to get the chain to line up correctly, or can I use the 450R carrier, caliper, etc.?
I bought this trike disassembled. No bearing carrier was included, so I have nothing to use for a reference in fitting and alignment.
From what I gather, the 250R carrier is a bit wider than the 450R's. That requires centering the 250R carrier in the 450R swingarm in order to get the chain lined up correctly. This, in turn, requires shimming the brake caliper bracket for the needed snug fit.
If this is the route to take, what would you recommend using to shim the caliper bracket?
I'm most likely becoming a pain in the rear with all these questions |

Just need to correct myself here. It was a long time ago i did this. Forget what i said about shimming the caliper mount. this is fully contained on the carrier so it makes no difference what swing arm its on. i installed different bearings in mine that were a different width that led me to have to shim. Only 86 250r components will fit the 450r arm. The pin that stops the caliper mount spinning forward is the only challenge. _________________
