It helps as far as knowing how it all goes together, im still struggling to get it off.
If the splie is seized, what are my options?
From my readings, the hub should just pop off when pulled towards you, not threaded, no turning etc. |

Tip the trike on its side and pour WD40 around the spline and let it soak.
Then protect the end of the axle with the nut and belt the axle through the drum. Its easier this way than trying to lever off the drum.
If this fails the next step is heating up as much of the drum spline as you can with oxy and hitting the axle through.
Also use a nice piece of hardwood to protect the nut and thread when hitting the end of the axle. |

Still battling to get the brake hub off this thing, Ive been playing for about a week now. I have the back wheels all free'd up with the rear brakes disconnected.
My dad who actually owns this project is at the point where he wants it out of his shed (ie, I fix it and use/store it or it gets sold as is)
what would something like this be worth on the market?
Big Red honda 200
New tyres
plastics in great condition
new battery
Has some other new parts but would need to check exactly what with the old man, but the only thing to sort out is the brakes, front and rea, front needs new brakes, back needs new shoes bu the looks.
Thoughts? |

He wants to sell it because he can't get the brakes off? Geez! I'd hate to see what he'd do if the seat belt in his car locked up (like it does every now and then) on him one day.

Hi
Did you try heating the brake drum like greenhuman said and then try and tap the axle out with block of wood and hammer
I really do think this will work

Sorry for being a pain in the arse mate.
Honestly, don't give up, it's what owning a trike is all about, they're old and probably need work and that's what makes it your trike.
Borrow a blow torch or oxy and heat that spline area and flog it with a hammer.

I go around and using some hardwood between the hammer and the drum give it some gentle taps usually does the trick. Is the shoe cam in the correct position so the shoe's aren't locking the drum up.

Haggle sent you a schematic of the setup, that should tell you.
I pulled apart a Honda 90 axle from an old rusted out frame that's been sitting under a house for 20+ years. Took us more than 2 hours to pull it apart and so I could use it in another trike i'm building. They're not easy dude and they're also old. they went together once before they have to come apart. _________________ Yamaha '07 Raptor 700r SE
