Howdy everyone my name is DaZZa i am new to this site so please bear with me if i ask questions that may have already been raised before i have looked up alotta messages and not come accross what i am looking for so here goes a bit about me when i woz 13 i now 37 my mum had to go into hospital for a week so i stayed with friends of the family we hired two trikes for a weekend best weekend of fun ever at the Wentworth Sandhills Steve an older guy and his then girlfriend now wife were hooked steve brought a trike but kinda agricultrual looking!

Forget what it was 250cc yellow thang so then i also wanted one but i wanted a sporty looking version i purchased a honda 200x 84 trike i worked picking grapes and whatever i earned mum would double wot i saved just grew up with me mum such a kool mum. So i worked my lil butt off and saved $1500 or so mum added another $1500 and i brought my trike from Melbourne not bad for a 13yr old I rode it so much on weekends thruought my teenage years mum used to cart me out into the bush and sit in the car while i out burning around all day knitting or would pick me up later in the arvo i grew up in Mildura victoria i spent numerous amounts of time on my Trike camping weekends with steve and rhonda then another mate brought a quad we could ride these thingz in all conditions very little restrictions to where we could go back in the days! in my 20's the normal things happen steve got married and brought a house and etc so didn't have as much time to go out i got a job and went OS and just life stuff well the trike took a back seat and sat in the shed prolly un riden since i about 25.

It is still there at mums to this day i always thought i would use it again one day? Cause i worked so hard to get it i looked after it very well and even thou it was used alot it still loooks pretty new i was a fanatic at cleaning her after i had been out all weekend! She got a flat tire and chain prolly gone a bit rusty i not too machanical minded few things but limited so here are my first few questions?

First of all do ya think it would take much to get her going again what would anyone suggest to do first as i said it just been sitting in a shed under a cover i not seen her condition in about two years dun go home much as i should. I would like to get her going again but wouldn't know where to start maybe change spark plugs change oil and clean out carbies(not that i know how to do that) Lube up chain or new chain anything else anyone could suggest to do to her?

Another factor is that i not really know about i sorta knew that they not so popular anymore as a few got killed on Trikes?(own stoopidy??) And rarely see em in shops and so on. But i recently like last week got told they Banned in Australia??? Or Victoria?? which put me on a downer as i was looking forward to riding her again i was calling places to see if i could find a place to ride near Melbourne and looking up on the net how i could get her going that is how i came accross this site could someone shed some more light onto how banned trikes really are??

Apparently there is lotsa space forest?? Unsure just heard on the vine down near the 90 mile beach gippsland that people can go riding and not get caught by the police i have read posts and thoise sand hills at sorento or whever the pic'z are from loook fantastic i really hope that i can get to ride her again this is a work in progress i gotta get home at some stage it prolly take me a year or so to get her going but i hope to get some info from here that will help in my attempt to resurrect some of the best times i ever had in my childhood

Not sorento Stockton photos look great! Where is that Belmont area also In NSW??? Trikes cant be that banned if recent photo's of em on sand dunes Laws and rules suck these days too many of them in all facets of life i mean it should be up to me if i wanna ride a Trike and kill myself accidently or from my own stoopidity i guess it same as usual a few spoil it for the rest of us! Yeah Yeah they unstable seriously i rode my Trike in my teens most weekends the only ever accident i had was in a sand quarry type thing where some one had taken a trailer of sand away from one of our regular riden tracks bang bike on top of me and very bad sprained ankle but nothing else fell off it a couple of times doing wheelies but bugger all that was dangerous and i used to ride her hard we clocked her at 100kms next to a car as no speedo so ofcoarse anything coulda happened in the bush Banned phoooey i will ride it elegally LOL that woz a joke has to be a way to be able to ride it again bit disappointed in the Banned news still as ya can see i wanna take her out onto the sand dunes again ofcoarse i could take her into the deserts and not be frowned upon but i would only be able to do that like once a year at most i am looking more at riding her every couple of weekends an hour or two from melbourne if i can all for the future.
hope to hear back from someone in the next few dayz cheerz for providing a site like this that i can find like minded Trike riders

Cheerz aussie bit far for me to go but eventually i might have to as doesn't seem to be too many places these days for atvs to ride as my above post states too many laws and rules these days taken the fun outta alotta thingz! Safer i guess i know and can see both sides of story who wantz to make a top notch atv park in Vic like that other place i just read about that is a atv park awesome stuff camping and that not viable geeze why not! I would go to a park like that most weekends if there woz one close pay a few buckz and camp play on trikes and quadz with others great weekend of fun! My first reply of many of posts i hope cheerz moggz

I liked your story mate, I did the same sort of thing when I was growing up. Trikes are just classed as ATVs mate, don't let anyone tell you any different. Get yourself a back issue of ATV action theres a big write in there about Trikes in Australia.

Your 200x shouldn't be too hard to get back to her former glory. Without looking at your 200x, I reckon that the fuel tank would be rusted out and your air filter would be shagged as a starting point. But don't worry, the 200x was a popular machine with a standard honda 200cc motor in it. Honda sold thousands around the world. Parts are pretty easy to track down. Ive even seen Chinese 200cc Honda copys bolt right into the 200x frame.

As far as places to ride, Victoria SUCKS.... NSW, WA, TASSIE, NSW and QLD all have some sort of rec rego for ATVs and places to ride them. I suggest you find someone with some land. If ever your up Wodonga way you can ride on some land up here that I have access to.

Cheerz for reading my posts Great thankz for your offer eventually i might be in for a trip away with Trike in tow well in a year or so. Yep i forgot to post above that the fuel tank would prolly be rusty inside is there a way of treating a rusty tank to make it not so rusty no more?? New chain would or should be easy to come by like i said not seen her for about two years great that parts are easily to come by or even a new motor perhaps? She really has been well kept just a shame i not been home more in the last ten years to upkeep her.

Bit disappointed in myself for letting 200x go un attended for so long but life and time just flies once ya get older. Plus also i progressed in my late 20's into road bikes with now riding a gsxr 750 so she my other babe that needz attention on weekends hehehe! I wish i could get home like yesterday to take some pictures and get started on fixing her up but at the moment work is pretty flat out as a few people have left so i holding the fort till we get new staff?? Hard to get home for a couple of days when ya a casual worker. Also it just planning on doing stuff to her at the moment as whatever money i spend on her will have to be justified that i can actually ride her regularily once i get her going again so for the next couple of months will try and get to know some people with private land so as it does make it viable for me to spend some cash on her and get her back to her glory on the dirt that first ride will take me back to when i was a teenager.

When ya say VIC sucks is it ya not know of many places to ride or the laws are tougher? Anyone heard of the Parwan speedway near Bachus Marsh? Apparently they are ATV friendly?? Also anyone else heard of near 90 mile beach area apparently it also good to ride about?

G'day Moggz,

On your 200x as the ozquad said, check your fuel tank for rust. Then i would do the obvious things first and move on if need be:

- Replace fuel
- Check/clean or if need be replace airfilter
- Change engine oil/filter
- Lube chain
- Check for slack in chain (adjust if necessary)
- Check the condition of the sprockets
- Check tires for dry rot, make sure they hold pressure etc.
- Check wheel bearings on front wheel
- Check all cables and controls (brakes etc.) make sure they work and are not sticky

You dont want to start it, take off and find your brakes aren't working!


Theres probably more things but thats off the top of my head, and i think it will make a good start.



As for riding...

I'm one of the few victorian trike riders that I know about, I currently have 2 trikes: atc 250R and a tri-z.

I personally only ride on a private property my family own 10 acres in gippsland (near bairnsdale) ... i'm pretty sure I know the forest area your talking about too...



About myself...

I find my story similar to yours although I was Privileged(sp?) when I was younger I got my first motorbike at age 3 (a suzuki LT 50 4 wheeler) since then i've been through a quite a few machines.

Now at age 19, I love my bikes more than ever ... however my family will only fund me one machine, so I work for the others if i want them ... i remember how long it seemed to take for my to get my 2002 yamaha Banshee (which I still have)


Anyway, I hope you find it of some help.

CRC everything, replace the fuel and tow start it.
If it's buggered... just put the gsxr750 motor in it...
problem solvered!

Seriously though.
freashen it up, give it a few hundred kicks and baby it up to full operating temperature and see how it goes.
Then you can identify all of your priorities, start getting part prices and see if restoration is the way you want to go.
(when you finaly hear the first few fires you'll probably gather all the momentum you need to go all the way).

Cheerz guyz for ya suggestions will do on all accounts what you suggested then work from there to see what else i need to do on her! Just gotta get her to Melbourne so i can actually start the process she 600kms away at the moment with my work casual shifts it hard to get home often. Hahaha LOL at bolting the gixxer750 engine in thru one of the posts on here i will try and find it funnily ya mention this as my exact same model gsxr has been made into a trike at bindoon drags couple of picz of it below plus also what mine looks like dun think i will be converting her just yet into a trike but
I have rang a couple of places since i last posted parwan speeday no go for trikes maybe another place for $45 a day and yogie another forum member touched base with me thanks mate so it a start i guess least it a couple of places to ride 200x once she running? Wish i had a few pic'z of her now! Terminal velocity could you PM me i would like to know more about that area i woz talking about above that you think you might know down near 90mile beach? Eventually i hope to also have the status of being one of the few who ride a trike in victoria should be loads more of us! Atvheaven cheerz mate will do when i get closer to starting on her!!

thatz my babe at the moment 6 or 7 years old now i brought her new i know it not an atv i seriously couldn't make mine into a trike like the one at the above websites at Bindoon drags hahahahaha! But hopefully my Honda 200x will be up and running within a year or so?!!
