Gee the racing all over Australia just keeps sounding bigger and harder.
I thought AJS was rough at the 06 Nats.
Sounds worse this time.
Well done to all.
I don't know how the Pro's hit it so hard. _________________ Can-Am X Team

Motorex WA State Motocross Championships Jindong Park Busselton June 15th
Proudly Supported by Smarter than Smoking
Its State Round time again, we have had a nice break of 5 weeks which enabled some riders to heal, some to upgrade equipment, participate at Open events, and some riders to completely change their rides.
Some more colour in the pits will certainly generate alot of interest on the Quad grids
Over 300 riders 2 & 4 wheel have entered Round 3, with capacity Quad grids. Jindong park is an amazing Quad track and I'm certain there will be some amazing racing in all 4 classes.
Chris Brenton(Honda AUS) leads the Pro Quads just 11 points in front of Ryan Lancaster,(Yamaha AUS) Anthony Yewers(Honda AUS) in 3rd holds a 5 point lead in front of David Sanders. Racing will be fierce with Chad Mckay due for some luck and all other Pro riders equally capable of taking out top 5 positions.
Intermediate Quads shows Luke Gaisford(RPS Can-Am) in the lead, Paul Hughes in second
Michael Harcourt(LQS) in 3rd. These guys have certainly picked up the pace over the first two rounds mixing it with the Pro's and taking some good outright positions in the class.
Clubman Quads is a great race to watch battles all over the track, whether it be the front runners of Steve Trandos and Ricky Stephens battling it out with Ex- pro riders turned Vets, Grant Gaisford and Brett Petricevich, who happen to be on equal points for the series. The girls, Jessica Harrison, Jessica Osborne and Gina Merrylees have a tussle of their own, it will be interesting come the Womens State Championships to see who takes out the Title. Rumours have it, last years winner may make a return, to throw a cat amongst the pigeons.
Busselton's Jindong park is a good couple of hours drive from the Metro area, but this round will certainly be the one to be at, spectator areas are a plenty, be there early if you want a good spot !
Adults $20 per head, with Children under 16 free.
Full canteen and Bar facilities will be available. _________________ www.waquadmx.com |

Round 3 of the 2008 Motorex WA State Motocross Championships will be memorable not just for being the first State Round to be held at Jindong, but because of the Rain & mud !
Three hundred riders entered and the track had been prepped by loyal Southern Capes members well into the late evening, it was after midnight when the heavens opened, and it didn’t stop for hours, the track was definitely going to be a survival circuit for all. Motocrossers generally dont mind a bit of mud and got out there for the business at hand, to earn some lucrative points towards this crucial round in the Series Championships.
First of all, every rider that raced truly should be congratulated, entertainment factor was just enormous, riders spinning in corners, sliding sideways off the track, thank goodness for Transponders ! ! If it wasn’t for them, no one would know who won!, it became so difficult to tell riders apart, bikes and gear all the same colour, brown. Rumours have it, that after the completion of a Pro race, certain riders returned to find their pit tent blown away, and at end of day the pits where littered with buckled and bent tents.
The job to retrieve signage from the track belongs to the committee, ankle deep in what felt like walking through ankle deep premixed runny concrete, all we could do was laugh, how anyone rode on the track is just amazing, we trekked up the side of the finish jump as we thought the mud wouldn’t be so bad up there, but it was just stickier and thicker deep mud. We take our hats off to you all, no one complained when after two races, the third round was cancelled, I think I heard a collective cheer !
Its hard to write a race report when most of the time we couldn’t tell who was who, so today all we can offer are some highlites of the days survival outing.
Michael Addison the current series leader wasn’t above coming to grief on the circuit, face planting his goggles into the mud, and having to pass through the carnage on the track to salvage 3rd place, James Craig put in the fastest Lap time and was leading the first race, unfortunately hit a fallen rider but still finished with a creditable 5th. Dean Porter and Louis Calvin took 1st and 2nd
Race 2 was a 6 Lap sprint which still took the leaders almost 13mins to complete, Michael Addison suffered a flat rear tyre and held off Porter through the last corner charge to win by just .598 of a second, Ryan Litterick and Ben Hothersall were a minute behind, but were happy with 3rd and 4th.
Pro Quads saw a mixed fortune for most, including Ryan Lancasters massive repair bill on his New Yamaha, he travelled the 4000km trip and suffered 2 x dnf’s Chris Brenton rode perfectly all day and bagged the double, while Ant Yewers suffered some minor incidents which saw him battle from mid field. Josh Higson put together a great round to take 2nd with Chad McKay on his new Suzuki in 3rd
Pro Lites saw some great form from 2007 Champ Paul Humberston who won the 2nd race by just 1 second which gave him the overall win for the day from Louis Calvin. Steve Heilers took 3rd, Jamie Shaw 4th and Josh Adams with 5th.
Round 4 is a split round with the Quad State Championships being held at AJS on July 13th
While Lightweight Motorcycle club will Host round 4 of the Solo and Womens Championships on July 27th. _________________ www.waquadmx.com |

2008 Motorex WA Motocross Championship Series Round 5 BSA HDMCC Noble Falls August 24th
Proudly supported by Smarter than Smoking
The Motocross road show moves to the outer Town of Noble Falls this weekend, historically one of the largest rounds of the series,
showcasing some of the fastest Motocross action of the Championships. The Noble Falls circuit is an amphitheatre for spectators
and has some of the best viewing areas of any club in WA. Surrounded by tall trees and perched on the side of the hills within the Avon Valley,
this technical track brings about surprise results & separates the front runners in all classes.
The Culmination of the series lies just two weeks out from the finale at Coastal Park in 2 weeks time on September 7th.
After Round 4 the Championship class points are as follows.
Pro Open Class
1st Michael Addison 234pts
2nd Ben Hothersall 188pts
3rd Dean Porter 176pts
Addison looks to have tied up back to back titles keeping that WA #1 Plate firmly in his grasp, Michael finished 7th over all Nationally,
while Dean Porter held on to 10th, without the pressures of travelling weekly upon them, I’m sure the last two rounds should bring about
some excellent competition between the front runners of the penultimate class of the WA State MX Series.
Pro Lites Class
1st Louis Calvin 197pts
2nd Paul Humberston 175pts
3rd Jake Watling 157pts
Round 5 will see the return of Louis Calvin after missing round 4, Paul Humberston will miss rounds 5&6 while competing in Greece,
in the International 6 Day Enduro Series. Jake Watling missing out last year on a podium finish, will be certain to take advantage
and consolidate with some good points over the last 6 Races.
Pro Quads
1st Chris Brenton 229pts
2nd Anthony Yewers 207pts
3rd Ryan Lancaster 203pts
Brenton, Yewers and Lancaster, undeniably Australia’s fastest Quad MX riders, with a bag of titles between them,
will bring to Noble Falls the competition not just to win, but for fastest lap time.
Noble Falls is one of the only tracks were Quad lap-times are competitive with the top Pro solo laptimes.
Lets hope for beautiful weather and watch the spectacle that is WA Motocross at its very best !

The Motorex WA State Motocross Championships heads towards an exciting finale at Coastal Park, Henderson on September 7th. Coastal Park is expecting to draw huge crowds from the extreme sport community throughout the southern corridor, as Motocross puts its best riders on display for the final of the 2008 Series.
With 1 round to go, here are the current points leaders.
Pro Quads
1st Chris Brenton 304pts
2nd Anthony Yewers 263pts
3rd Chad Mckay 243pts
4th Josh Higson 242pts
5th Ryan Lancaster 236pts
Lancaster & Brenton are looking to move to the US for 2009 and Yewers thinking about retirement, this could be the changing of the guard for the Pro Quads in WA. This maybe the last time you get to see this group of Elite riders racing all together. If you like extremely fast and exciting Quad Racing, don’t miss this one !
Intermediate Quads
1st Luke Gaisford 350pts
2nd Paul Hughes 264pts
3rd Daniel Udell 234pts
4th Kyle Lawrence 225pts
5th Michael Harcourt 209pts
This talented group of riders are the Pro’s Quad riders of the future, also missing out of this group are excellent riders Luke Harrison and Ben Papas, who will no doubt see the upgrade letters when this season is over. Its hard work racing on the same grid as the Pro’s when you are an intermediate, but this group of riders have done exceptionally well and will certainly be worth watching in 2009.
Clubman Quads
1st Ricky Stephens 314pts
2nd Steve Trandos 255pts
3rd Tom Udell 218pts
4th Jessica Osborne 191pts
5th Callum Boult 190pts
Ricky and Steve started this season out with a goal to beat ex Pro riders turned Vets Petricevich & Gaisford, it has been exciting to see their skill and speed increase over the year, and having these two riders on the grid has given the Clubman’s a pace to achieve once they hit the front of their class. Tom Udell put it to Brett P at BSA showing the glimmer of a rider ready to take the next step. Jessica would have to be one of the highest finishing females in clubman’s over recent years.
Veteran Quads
1st Brett Petricevich 331pts
2nd Grant Gaisford 308pts
3rd Vince Thomson287pts
4th Darryl Maringoni 233pts
5th Vince Hastings 200pts
This class is amazing, 35years + and still out there racing, with a wealth of knowledge to pass on to the new riders, and a pace for them to chase, this class was a little light on numbers but certainly bought the speed up in the clubman’s races.
The WA State Quad Motocross Series finalises this Sunday at Coastal Park
Don’t miss a minute
Action starts at 9am
Spectators
Adults $20
Under 16 free
If you arrive during the day, there is over flow parking at the International Go Kart complex next door to Coastal Park, with walk in entry through a side gate between
The two facilities _________________ www.waquadmx.com |
