The Dirt Track Series for Motocross and Quad Bikes will be run on the following dates:
Round 1: 28th March 2007
Round 2: 11th April 2007
Riders will be required to hold a current Motorcycling WA licence or alternatively they will require a one day licence to ride.
Entry prices for the riders payable at the gate are as follows:
MWA Licenced riders = $30
MWA Licenced Junior Riders = $15
None Licenced - 1 day recreation licence = $45
None Licenced Junior - 1 day recreation licence = $30
Riders wishing to purchase a MWA Competition licence should contact the Motorcycling WA office during business hours on 9371 5333 or call in to 25/168 Guildford Road Maylands.
A map of the Dirt Track will be online in coming weeks outlining the special flat track design utilising both the Speedway car and bike track. This track has been designed to allow riders from all classes to enjoy the experience of riding underlights at the world class Perth Motorplex venue.
Riders are required to wear Protective clothing as outlined in the Motorcycling Australia - Manual of Motocycle Sport. Including and not limiting the following extract from the manual:
No competitor may practice, start or compete in any competition unless wearing:
a) An approved and correctly fitting helmet which must:
i) Carry the Standards Association of Australia "AS 1698" label; or
ii) Be approved under rule 01.69 & 01.70 of FIM Technical Rules.
b) Trousers of leather or synthetic material of similar durability.
c) A jersey which:
i) Must be of close knit fabric of natuarl or synthetic fibre.
ii) Must be a snug fit and provide protection against abrasion to the body and arms.
d) Footwear which must:
i) Be recongnised Motocross type for Motocross and dirt track type for Dirt track;
ii) Be constructed of leather, plastic or other similarly durable material.
iii) Be of a length that must at least overlap the trousers with the rider in a racing position on the machine.
e) Gloves of leather or other material of similar or greater durability.
f) Goggles or visors as specified.
g) Dirt Track riders must wear a commercially manufactured back protector, which continuously covers the back area between the collar line and the base of the spine.
If there is enough support from the competitors for these two rounds then the Perth Motorplex will stage a Wednesday night Motocross May promotion inconjuction with the Whoop Ass Wednesday Off Street Drag Racing running every Wednesday night throughout May of which there is 5 dates commencing on the 2nd of May.
