Posted: Tue Nov 10, 2015 9:32 pm Post subject: Help Needed - Rear CV Joint Removal |
 |
|
Hi all,
I am trying to remove the rear CV joint form a 2010 Honda Trx420.
At this point the diff is out, the CV joint has been dismantled with only the inside outer (not 100% sure on terminology here) race left on the side I want to remove and the whole joint on the other side.
So far I have tried, pry bars and pulling on the CV.
Welded chain to a 60mm exhaust clamp which i clamped to Cv and attached a large homemade slide hammer and tried to remove.
Also tried to remove the good side (so I could just use a punch to drive the bad side out) and even tried to split the diff housing thinking the CV might come out with the bearing or a gear (I was mistaken..)
Any ideas on how to get this apart appreciated.
Next step is to make another clamp from a 60mm exhaust clamp, weld a longer bit of chain and use a high lift jack to pull them apart from each side.... Any advice or tips/trick appreciated.
Cheers,
Adam |
