Has anyone tried modifying the standard welded in ball joints on control arms with replaceable ones?
I have a 1991 Yamaha Big Bear 4WD and need new front upper ball joints.
NOS (new old stock) you can only buy the right one as the left is NLA (no longer available). I see that the 1998 Big Bear uppers are both still available but, have a different part number and are shaped differently. It would 'appear' that the dimension from the mounting bush centre line to the ball joint centre line could be longer on the 1998 (does anyone have the relevant dimension?). I can't find any aftermarket upper control arms on the web, so I wonder if anyone has found a match for the original size ball joint and cut/ground the old ones out and fitted an alternative?
Any help or information would be appreciated.
